I agree about the Braniff Concorde box, it's awesome, and I've never even seen a pic of the box before.  :o

But the plastic is dire, it's the original Airfix kit of the 1st prototype, and it's even a bad kit of that! For a class 1/144 Concorde the Revell kit's the winner.

Aye!! You hit the nail on the head... the only reason I bought this was for that funky box. It's rad, man!  And it's whif! ;D   I would have at least bought the newer tool Airfix if I would have bought an Airfix kit at all if I just wanted one to build.

I appreciate the intel on the Revell kit.  I've been itching to find a Concorde for awhile now (which lead me to this mashed MPC kit). Definitely going to get one of those.........

Brad C - you can't blame the parcel service if the parcel isn't properly wrapped in the first place.  As a wise man once said "if you can't drop kick your parcel down a flight of stairs then you haven't wrapped it properly".

I guy who manufactures model railroad stuff who I know and worked with does exactly that with his boxes and cartons!

He even videoed himself doing it on his web site just to prove he did!

I once had a mate who worked in the Post Office.  That was basically his advice as well.  Anything marked "Fragile" was usually placed on top of the pile on the conveyor - so that it ended up at the bottom of the pile in the bin of packages...   :banghead:

Yous guys'll get no argument outta me. ;D We all know this is how it is in the technical world, and liability falls squarely on one party, but in truth it's a bit of both. If some clown intentionally drives his forklift over the parcel and raises the parts count drastically, as a sender, I would cry, "Hey, that's not my fault...."   But at the same time, it should have definitely been in a better package BUT I've gotten these things before that had even LESS protection and arrived in perfect condition so.... it's not like the parcel service is magically incapable of delivering packages one day and not the next. Thus, I split the difference and the blame lies on BOTH. Hell, I even blame myself a little bit because I haggled the dude down by $5 so.... if I had not taken that $5 from the guy perhaps he could have sprung for a proper box and extra shipping?  ;D   BUT, see, I already know the retort, "Doesn't matter, he agreed to the $5 lesser amount so it's his fault, if he didn't want to properly ship it, he didn't have to agree to the lower price!!!11"   blah blah     ;D ;D ;D

This is why I'm likely to not do anything about it. I'm going to leave good feed back because I don't believe a persons 100% rating should be destroyed by such a thing... a one time deal that is not entierly any one persons fault. Then, in private, I will send him a note letting him know that the packaging was inadequate. No harm, no foul. This is an ultra rare occassion anyway.... I can say that the USPS, in my experience, has about a 99% success rate. Over all the decades I can count on one hand the number of mashes wares and one miss-delivered package that went across the street. I don't get why so many people bag on the USPS, I think they're great.

Ain't that cool, man!! Mashed and all!  ;D ;D   It's a whif right in and out of the box, too.  Braniff uhh... leased or... rented or whatever Concorde service to Dallas/Ft. Worth but they were never painted in a Braniff livery.

Anyway, the styling and all is funky, it looks like some sort of space craft.  :o

IIRC Barniff effectively leased the Air France and BA Concorde flights through to Dallas.

Both airlines had to re-register the aircraft at Dulles for every single flight down to Texas and back, and then de-register them again to fly home. How crazy is that?

That is a cool tidbit of information!!! Was this before or after super sonic flight was effecively banned over the US? After, right?? It would be neat to know that a Cocncorde was flying at Mach speed. Otherwise, I kind of don't see the point of the lease, really, other than sheer publicity. If forced to travel at sub-sonic they may as well piled onto a 757 or something.

The Braniff Concorde flights were subsonic, it was all in the name of publicity really.

But I have a vague idea that the trans-Atlantic sectors were joint-ticketed and had Braniff flight numbers as well as BA and Air France ones.
