...got some 'clear' paints for painting the tail lights on my brother's car model. I've never used it before so I bought two lots from different manufacturers...

I recommend Acrylic clear paints.  I've tried both that and enamel and IMO acrylic is better as enamel tends to "glob up".
Gunze Sangyo Mr Color are my current favourites.  Although their clear orange is bit close to their clear red and I sometimes use clear yellow instead.

Both of mine are acrylics, one pair are Tamiya and the other are Meng. Infortunately the Tamiya stuff is far too 'clear' and will need 10-15 coats before you notice the colour, and the Meng stuff is the exact opposite, as dense as normal paint.  :banghead:

I went to a Model Car Club meeting last night and the bloke I give a lift to each month surprised me with the gift of a kit to say thank you.
It is a 1/12 Lindberg Fiat Dragster/Cabriolet.

Cracking job, that's one BIG kit IIRC!
Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Just received this... never used the stuff before but by what i've seen from others, should make smaller gaps and seams very easy to fill and clean up so i'm very curious...

Perfect Plastic Putty! It's great for the smaller gaps, dries quick too. Best part is that you can wipe it with a wet finger to smooth it out. Sands well when dry.
It also washes off your hands easy and out of clothing too if you get it before it fully sets.

I'm with Jimbo.  Tried using it on some small sinkholes but it didn't key into the plastic and fell out, so I went back to Humbrol.

It is handy for around canopies, once the Krystal Kleer has dried and you don't want to do any sanding, just clean it off with a damp cotton bud.

My view on PPP.

Great for small seams etc, but as Jim and Lee have said if you get to much water on it later on in the build it will "wash away".

Now I know that I don't have a problem with it, just be careful with water if working around it. Get a coat of paint on it and it's fine.

Like anything you will soon find if it suits the way you work. One advantage is that it has no smell unlike some others, particularly Tamiya.

What is it about the collected works of Charles Lutwidge Dodgson that makes his work so appropriate to postings in Whiffworld? His  poems Jabberwocky and The Hunting of the Snark , epics in the genre of literary nonsense, are so helpful in illustrating aspects of Whiffery..

Well, he was writing "literary nonsense" & what we're building is often referred to by some members of the modelling fraternity as "literally nonsense". ;D

I find PPP grips much better if I put down a light coat of primer first.
