Now you know how I felt when I puttied and sanded my Testor B-2 that I was making for my Christmas bomber project.
As the old saying goes: No good deed ever goes unpunished.  ;D
Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

I was working on this heap of junk originally in 2018! I'm just about to do the LAST sanding session......
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

I have, and it's been primed and a bit of the first colour coat is on too.

It's a pain trying to paint it as there's nothing to hold on to, so you have to spray it half by half. :(

And I bet you've not seen a B-2 in this colour scheme before.  ;D

I can still see where the wings meet the fuselage (Picture below). That's probably how my B-2 will turn out after all the puttying, sanding, priming, and painting is done.
Close........but not quite close enough.
Kit, you and me are both doing the best that we can do. And that's all we can do. Our models will never be 100% perfect.
Keep up the good work.

Indeed, when its finished how are you meant to zoom it round the room making jet engine noises?!

I don't give a damn WHAT it looks like frankly, it's a rubbish kit and I've built it as well as is possible.

Anyway, it's a Whiff and the B-2Ss weren't exactly the same as the B-2As, as will be seen in the backstory.  ;)

But of course!

I have made use of this excellent example of Handwavium myself, on numerous occasions.    ;)

I spent a long time, and used loads of masking tape and kitchen roll to mask up the B-2S for the black and white areas, and the paint's all on now. The black's not too bad, but he white landing gear and bomb bays were very difficult to spray into. They're so deep that getting the spray onto the sides and ends was fraught with difficulty. Brush painting isn't really and option as brushing white is always a disaster for me, it just doesn't cover well enough.

Anyway, it's on now and I'll see how it's looking later, and then I've got to strip all the masking off again. :(

Sounds like the bays will be getting a heavy wash ;) Thats my solution to those hard to get places. If they're that hard to get to, then they probably weren't cleaned properly either.

Well that was a disaster.  :banghead:  :banghead:

After un-masking this monster I'd got more problems than I started with!  :banghead:  Some of the masking tape has left adhesive deposits on the over all silver paint, some of the kitchen towel had actually STUCK to the wing in places, and there are various spots where the black spray had crept under the towelling.

It'll need a lot of work to bring it back to where it should be, and quite a bit of spot masking too.

I'm off to my forest home tomorrow to fit some garage doors, so progress on the B-2S will be postponed for a bit.

Sounds like you need a change of pace anyway. I know I would.

Agree.  :-\

Working on the ruined paint job on the B-2S has actually made it WORSE!  :banghead:

I tried to clean off the tape residue to start with, and I used some acrylic thinners as it seemed to be the weakest substance to hand. It surely removed the residue but took the paint off as well! Not quite what I had in mind, so now I'm faced with re-painting the whole thing, but using some decent Tamiya tape this time.

Back to where I was about 2 weeks ago, ho hum......................
