I received a Vman ultra sonic cutter too. It cuts like a dream but the battery doesn't seem to charge or I'm not doing it right. Works perfectly when it's plugged into the charger. The web is no help as it sends me to charging instructions for an ultrasonic kitchen knife.

I've purchased 6 of the AK paint pens, three allies cockpit colours and three insignia colours (which includes white and yellow, but not blue?). So far, they've all worked from the off, the yellow has needed more than one coat, but that's to be expected, and I've not got up the courage to try the white one... yet!

Main takeaway so far, protect those tips!

I've had these pens for a while, and have learned a few things:

1 - they degrade gracefully - the felted point will wear out and you'll ed up with a wider point that is fine for larger areas
2 - they seem to last forever. I haven't run out yet
3 - if the tip dries out slightly, water, or better yet an acrylic thinner (like Vallejo) will revive it.
4 - as the tip wears out, keep an eye out for little bits of felt. they're easy to trim off.

Ken, if it comes with its own GAN charger, make sure you're using the cable that came with it.

Charlie_c67 and Frank2056. Many thanks for those opinions on the AK paint pen range

Seriously looking at getting the cockpit colours and a few others

Ordered some AK Interactive Paint Markers from Jadlam Monday and they arrived today. Mainly interior shades and a couple of basic colours for things like nav lights etc. Hopefully try them out next week.

First time I've bought from Jadlam on-line, I've bought from them at shows, and whilst I wasn't that comfortable with the website *, their service was excellent

* I find the Big H easier to use, but that's probably because I'm always on it  ;D Also unlike Jadlam they are purely about modelling and you don't have to navigate your way through railways and slot cars etc. Still they are useful for when the Big H doesn't stock what I want

Jadlam have a points-based discount system as well, so if you find yourself using them regularly, rememeber to sign up fro it.

I did notice that and signed up just in case

I got some thin (0.2mm) tin-pewter foil, certainly safer than lead foil and a good replacement. It should also work when I need something smoother and with more heft than Tamiya tape. This is what I got: Flexible Tin Foil - Craft Pewter certainly safer than lead foil

After borrowing my railway modelling mate's Optivisor on a long term basis for many years, now I've moved 120 miles away from him I had to get one of my own, and a real zinger it is too.

It comes complete in its own carrying case (!) and has no less than FIVE different levels of magnification, ranging from x1.5 to x3.5, most impressive. It also has a built-in re-chargeable light, and a fold over magnifying glass as well.

What not to like?

It was invaluable in starting to build my RW IBG Spitfire PR1C.

Maybe so, but when the PE camera trigger, which needs to be glued to the styrene joystick, is only 0.5 mm wide and 1.5 mm long I had to do SOMETHING just to see the darn thing!  :o

The amount of teeny, weeny parts in the IBG Spitfire kit is mind boggling!

I have been using something similar for years. As kit says, really small parts require something like that, and I occasionally work on 1/600 ship parts, which is a scale of two feet per millimetre!
