It helps you roll things into curves or tubes. I bought it to help me to roll brass. Some of the ships I have to build need structures around weapons and the like that are curved metal in real life, so being able to roll brass shim the same way is good. At least I think so.

The tiny punch and die set is great for filling ejector pin marks with a disc of very thin styrene. Save your flash!

Makes micro cigarettes for your models?

I was also thinking of using it to punch out holes in scratch-built instrument panels and the like.

Very much so, but I've always found them to be rather expensive for the limited use they'd almost certainly get on my bench.

Can I ask how much it cost please Alistair ?
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I paid a large amount at Telford for a set of GodHand clippers to use with resin parts as well.

There is an old saying, which I am sure some here will have heard. "You never waste money on buying good tools." You might not use some of them very often, but quality does cost.

Very true, but you have to have a need for them, and the finance too.

Not sure I have the latter just now, not till I've actually moved house anyway.

Thanks Alistair. I think I'll leave it for now. Can't really justify it.

I'm thinking of getting some of these, as they will get used a fair bit, especially if I use more 3D printed stuff. However we will see in the New Year.

If your lucky Chris, you might find a Black Friday/Cyber Monday deal that reduces the price on the clippers.

From Ebay, a mini-cut-off saw, to make working with brass tube painless:

I've wanted one of these for ages, but the three-figure price tag from "proper" model-engineering companies like Proxxon put me off. These things, however, are £35 on Ebay. I don't doubt for a moment that they're cheap Chinese stuff, but for the number of times I'll use it, it'll probably be fine.
