Nah, paint it a good, rich pink, as per the box, but, when done, give it a coat of pearlescent clear & put boobies on the pilot.

I suspect that the kit is the *original* 1950s tool Airfix kit, given their tie in with MPC in teh 60s and 70s. And that kit is... best left for collectors. Use the kit as a pattern but use a better modern kit.
Good stuff! I'll do that. I surely don't need to be making extra work for myself trying to polish a turd. Thanks for the tip!! I just so happen to know where to get wonderfully building and CHEAP P 51s all day long. They lack in certain detail but the overall outside appearance is just fine and it goes together really easy.
A customising plane kit! Cool. What do the custom parts consist of Brad C?
Not sure what form of racing that is in the box art but judging by the leading edge the plane appears to still be armed.
Yeah!! Pretty neat, huh! I like it. I have the box on display now.

For some reason they count the stand as one of the bonuses.

I have more like it and looking at the instructions you can link them all together to make displays.

The next "bonus" are on the transfer sheet. They give you extra lil flowers and stuff to go on it. "Sassy Sue" a bucking mule on a delta, etc.

Last bonus are the 'chrome' parts.

Some of these don't even go on the lane, obviously, but I do plan to use the prop and spinners on the build when I do it. Now, I'm not sure, but some of these extra chrome pieces look like space alien laser guns, some look like maybe a poor mans MG, I see a radio antenna and some exhaust manifold looking stuff.... etc.. shrug.. lol

I also see something that appear to be rubber wheels (the little black things there) and it came with a clear disc with a hole in the middle I suppose meant to be a spinning prop but the diameter is WAY too big.
1970... ..

I saw another MPC kit one time that I'm reminded of that also came with weird flower type transfers and other things. An F-111. I'd like to get it, too, some day.
