Added, thanks!

A friend has written books about memorials in Norfolk and Essex; if you look at my map you will see dense coverage there.  I hope he does more.  I am very slowly adding memorials in other areas.

The SAS base at Credenhill, Hereford  has a classic LWB Landrover  as a memorial, but it's inside the perimeter fence and only just visible from the road.  Mod Plod would be extremely unhappy if people tried to photograph it.  I mention it purely for completeness of your most estimable record.

Hm.  It seems we should mark the exact location so that people can avert their eyes and avoid looking at it.  Do you have a more specific description?  I looked from space with no luck, on Google Earth (surprisingly up-to-date, Sept. 19 of this year.)  Entrances and other details were obscured.  Is this the entrance?   52° 5'11.81"N   2°47'26.97"W

Interesting that they have a teeny-weeny 'runway, 08-26, right at the south edge of the site. It's far too short for even a Pioneer or Twin-Pin, so I wonder what it is for? The choppers have their own pads a bit to the west.

[Later] And very cleverly Google Earth won't let you into Street View for a few hundred yards either side of the site entrance.

Bearing in mind that the short RW is also marked with an H at each end, it's quite possible that the RW is used for rolling take-offs with heavily laden choppers, possibly those - for example - with 2 sets of rotors.

The site has obviously changed a lot since I did my professional training at RAF Hereford, but it looks like some of the very elderly buildings are still there....

Thanks everyone for the info.  Rheged, the Landrover is slightly more visible in your shot than in Google Earth.  Yep, the entrance is obscured, and a car leaving the housing area across the street is blurred completely.  I assume the short strip is for helos to get a bit of a run.  I'm surprised they don't have a more isolated camp, and more obvious training areas (old helos, plane fuselages, obstacle courses, etc.)

The SAS "Adventure Playground"  as it is known locally is near Pontrilas, south of Hereford      https://www.google.com/maps/place/Pontrilas,+Hereford+HR2+0EH/@51.9670332,-2.8825676,3475m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m6!3m5!1s0x4871ccf7c9c465ed:0xadc0226e1f7193fd!8m2!3d51.941736!4d-2.87804!16zL20vMDdxZ3pq?hl=en&entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MTAxNC4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D

If you look closer, you can see  aircraft fuselages in the top right hand corner of the training area.

Fascinating though this may be, I am not aware of any memorials there.  However, the SAS cemetery is just to the north of the main entrance to Credenhill, and may possibly qualify as such.

Don't they have a clock in the grounds somewhere, with all the names of SAS casualties engraved on it?

It crops up in one of Tom Clancy's Ryanverse novels, 'Rainbow Six' IIRC, and it's not like him to invent such checkable items.

I believe that this memorial was relocated from their previous base at Bradbury Lines when they moved to Credenhill, remembering those who didn't "beat the clock".

In order to avoid introducing an infestation of Thread Drift Virus to this excellent museum and gate guard resource, I have opened a new thread  "Scene from Above" in Everyday Chat   which takes  interesting air photos etc from open source, publicly  available  material .

I have no desire whatever to provide material to aid His Majesty's foes (not least because Stirling Lines, the SAS base, is just down the road from me)  and I would strongly advise colleagues  to exercise discernment and moderation in their  postings.

Ah, good idea.

And smartassery aside, I intend no harm.  Scrolling Google Earth I note France blots out entire bases, special ops or no.  Other countries seem less concerned.  Of course some countries don't allow Street View, which limits information as well.

I'm off to check out that training base, though.

Here's a new one for you - https://www.chettonheritagemuseum.co.uk/

Is the Harrier still running ? In some pics it looks like it's just sat outside. Maybe those were when she first arrived ?

Already have it, Nick.  Can you see it on the map?  I didn't have the website, though, so added it, thanks!
