Quote from: Captain Canada on December 21, 2025, 10:59:36 AMI had one of these as a kid. Maybe around 1977 or 78 would be my guess. I was playing outside with it, as we had hard dirt in our front yard that made a perfect place to play cars. We had to leave for some reason, and I left my stuff outside for my friends to continue playing. When we got home, this was done, as well as my prized possession, my Leopard Recovery Tank. Live and learn.

Fast forward to this week : I bought this in town as a set for 40 CDN dollars. Beat to shreds and missing pieces, but at least I have it again !

I had one of those, but mine was matallic bright green. I think it was from a 2000AD Judge Dredd strip from before I got into it, but I'm not sure.

I also had the Leopard Recovery tank! Beyond the means of my pocket money and beyond my parent's willingness to pay, but my uncle bought it for me on a day trip to Doncaster.

They were made by Matchbox.
The vehicle used in the Judge Dredd Cursed Earth series was the Land-Raider.

It was part of a series called Adventure 2000, as was the vehicle Cap'n is restoring.

More details here.

It is a Humber 1 ton truck (early 1950's)  FV1600       Scale is a "fit the box" item (Dinky toy 641)    , in this case I'd guess at about 1:50 ish.    I had one about 65 years ago  but it's long gone..

Ya I'd say 1/50 sounds about right. Might be box scale, but most of the trucks and tanks seem to be about the same scale. I had always thought they were two sizes of Dinky, but they are Dinky and Lesney/ Matchbox !

IIRC the Humber Pig was based on the 1 ton truck.

Straightened out some barrels with my shop vice. Tamiya XF58 is a pretty good colour match for the original.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

They always lost the tracks.  I presume someone makes replacements given these things are collectable now?
