im off today,       there was a wargames tabletop yesterday, in Bristol  its a 2 ish hour drive and if id had the enthusiasm to go meant today would be a recovery day,  i didn't, so im off and have a bit more energy than i might of had.
Ive put away a large chunk of the painted figures from the last  couple of months (60 - 80 of them)  som have cleared a little space to work into again.

Had a quick look to see if its work mail ordering a couple of pots of paint,  It isnt,  some of the company's want to charge an unreasonable amount for the pot,  others are having a cow on the P&P  so i will be swinging round the local hobbycraft tomorrow on the way home     as its only a short drive from work, ( admittedly its away from the route home) but its easier to do than go today,

the AVRE has been reboxed and labelled where it is and returned to the pile,  Its sitting under the deck was dragging me down, so i can face it later.  and if i decide that i just cant be bothered i can paint the base tank and itll be an easy win 

so a 1:48 warrior kit has been pulled and the main sub assembly's are being started on, as ive done one recently its not flailing around in the dark, and i know that im best doing this way as opposed to undercoating 1st, as some of the tolerances are a bit close for that.   But forewarned is forearmed and i have hindsight from a ready done version to alow me to do so

Rick Lowe,  i find my self in total agreement on that.     now all i have to do is avoid snatching defeat from the jaws of victory , wile employing it. 

In other news, my pot of  Tamiya Nato black is almost out so i swung round hobbycraft yesterday to get a couple more,   ive used it more than i thought i would and will therefore keep at least a spare pot on top of the in use one, due to general running out paranoia,  The local store had a chunk of kits at 20 or 25% off  done at the till, but nothing caught my eye in either 1:35 or 1:48, and the games workshop stuff was all full price so that was out as well.
but happy to have got them.

main hull is together on the warrior, possibly a slightly different plastic mix on it as the interior hull floor was much less bowed   
found the widget from the 1st one for setting the suspension arms.

its close by, and may be worth a giggle,  model kits are a very odd size / weight ratio, and give a reasonably good rattle,  but with my luck i could end up with just a bought anything.

i have all the suspension arms done, and am trying to work out all the exterior detail that needs to be added, before i spray undercoat, and  give the undersides and tracks a quick overspray black.
its not that fast, but cation here will save swearing later, ( i hope) 

in other news ( or rather questions)
does any one know if a 1:48 AH-1S Cobra is available?  and made by whom if it is.  And if not what would be a good close enough at 3 feet stand in?  I know i cant use whiskys for this as much as id like too as im aware of the difference re engine etc.   This will for adding to my JSDF  project Gate stuff, so if its a older but good version it dosnt matter, as kind of like the Hustler i got in 48th, i have time.

As for the Cobra ? A quick Google suggests Fujimi and Monogram, both old toolings however.

Fujimi and Monogram, brill, and old isnt bad, old normally means cheap 
and for wargames models, 3 foot viewing wont matter do they will look plenty good enough

The warrior build is going ok, i managed to glue the engine access door on the glaces the wrong way round    but its not that visible and once painted i will be able to put some cammo roll or similar on it to hide the misplaced hinges simples 
ibe the track run on one side now and thats setting as i type, the drive wheel and rear idler for the other side will be done and then used.

Many posts up thread i mentioned that we have 3 sheds, 1 for storage of pushbikes and tools.  the remaning 2 are 7 by 5 foot poting sheds, one for Mrs SP to do potting in and the other i keep assorted "stuff" in  cardboard boxs,  fence paint, a pallet, and assorted other useful things, this one has had the tongue and groove front planks /  panels warp slightly where they interlock, to ensure that it stays water tight and allow the panels to continue to do so, the joints have had lengths of  flashing tape run across the joins,   Its flexible, waterproof and long lasting     score.   Its one of those 5-10 minute jobs that is easy as long as everything behaves.   fortunately this time it did   

happy and back to modelling and reading now.
