Had a mate who had one of those "sans" the m.g.  ;D

As did I. We pushed it up against a wall with him in it. Front opening door, no reverse....he wasn't happy!!

Couldn't he have climbed out of the sunroof? I can't recall seeing an Isetta that didn't have a sunroof.

Maybe that was *why* they all had them - to stop folk starving to death, who'd made a similar sort of error...

Thats the sort of photo people take because they have both items in their collection of stuff and it occurs to them to do so while tidying up the garage/shed/museum.
Which begs the question what sort of person collects both bubble cars and machine guns?
I'd like to see the rest of the collection.

The kind who are over 50?
There was this Japanese guy who built a huge walking sorta scorpionish vehicle. He said that he was over 50, now, and could do what he wanted.

Isetta didn't have it all their own way. Some bubble cars were made by Heinkel, and even licenced for production in Ireland. Thus says Wiki :-

The Heinkel Kabine was a microcar designed by Heinkel Flugzeugwerke and built by them from 1956 to 1958. Production was transferred under licence to Dundalk Engineering Company in Ireland in 1958. However, the licence was withdrawn shortly afterwards due to poor quality control. Production restarted in 1960, again under licence, under the Trojan 200 name by Trojan Cars Ltd. in the UK, and continued until 1966

I must assume that the vehicles with solid roofs and no reverse were the Dundalk built variant. Allegedly capable of nearly 60 mph, but I'm not sure that I'd like to travel at anything like that speed in one.

A new kind of technical!

Yeah, technically it's going to be going in reverse the moment you pull the trigger, no matter what gear it's actually in! ;D

Hey, that's the solution!  Those famously had no reverse gear, and only the front door.
In between jobs and homes.  New job starts soon, then search for new home, space for hobby room and display cases is non-negotiable.

Some did have reverse, but only at extra cost.

They didn't sell too many like that in UK as the lack of reverse meant you could drive one with a motorbike licence.

There were always stories about of dead bodies being found in ones which had been driven up against a garage wall  ;D I think Frankie Howard did a t.v. sketch based on that premise ?

Yup Heinkel did the side by side bubble car and I think it was Messerschmitt who did the fore and aft version ?
