Meanwhile I was watching the Repair Shop whilst having my tea yesterday afternoon and the "Leather Lady" (calm down children she repairs/renovates all the leather items that's all ) was doing some great work on an old Edwardian piece when I noticed her cutting mat, it was huge  :o. Far, far bigger than my A2 one. On checking I'm fairly sure it must be an A1 one ? Anyway it would just about cover the usable part of my modelling desk......I want one  ;D

She is rather good  ;)

Gondor

 ;D ;D

In all seriousness, for once , they all are. A truly fantastic programme

Been musing on what to do with the first of my SH Hornets ?

It's definitely going to be SEAC, but in what scheme ? As delivered, and as some Mosquitoes, MSG over PR Blue or in Dark Earth/Dark Green/MSG ? Both to have white ID bands and SEAC roundels.

Favouring the Dark Earth etc option at the moment as its different.

The F1s were delivered in the high altitude day fighter scheme of MSG over PRU Blue, so I'd stick with that.

I've no doubt that the MU in the far east would have had orders to repaint them but given that the Spitfire 14s were intended to have Dark Earth instead of the Ocean Grey largely were never repainted, it's a fairly good guess that the Hornets would have remained in their factory scheme too.

If they were repainted, they most likely would have been in Aluminium Dope, given the problems with the similar construction Mosquito.  Which means the much nattier Roundel Blue bands.

I'd also go with an F3 rather than an F1, as I'm not entirely sure the F1s were plumbed for long range tanks - at least, the first 50 were not and I've yet to see a photo of an F1 with underwing tanks (although there is a photo of one with Mosquito style 100 gal tanks whilst the Richard Franks book has a period drawing showing both the 100 and 200 gal mosquito tanks on a Hornet wing at Rib 9) - which they would have needed in the far east.

Cheers Lee.

The more I think of it you're probably right.

Mines going to be set in 1946 during the British invasion of Japanese occupied Malaya. So will have bombs and rockets.

Go with an F3 for that, you've got the relevant bits in the box anyway.

Having started a test fit, I have grave misgivings about it.  The test fit is not good.  The instructions don't help either, as there's some glaring errors in them.

No progress the past week or likely the next as I have a fair few hospital appointments/procedures. They are starting to catch up with things that were cancelled whilst the Covid 19 crisis was raging. Interestingly a couple of days before the appointment you get a Covid test, so as of Saturday I am clear and thus now have the "pleasure" of a internal camera investigation, follow up to the one I had 3 years ago. Was it really 3 years ? Time flies

The procedure is at St Georges in Tooting Broadway where I used to hang about a lot during my youth (pubs + nurses = ) and I was surprised how many of the pubs I remembered are still there  <_<

But do the nurses still frequent them?  ;) ;)
Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

And are they the same nurses?

Good luck with the procedure.

Oh well got to see my insides again this morning and there was nothing to look at, thankfully  So I had a chat with a rather attractive Italian nurse instead  ;D

Couple of other medical things to sort this week, Inc. Flu jab, then hopefully I can get back to some modelling. Hannants' have also let me know that the boxing of the Azur/Frrom New Tool B-10 I ordered is in
