Yup, most of the optitians over here offer deals, but the small print is very carefully worded and my prescription is certainly not included in it.

As I've got older my eyes can see further, so much so that I don't need glasses to drive these days. All very nice.

That's a bonus! And one reason I've been holding off... spend north of $500 and have to do it again in a few years as my eyes change with age.

I have found that for close work - computers, reading, modelling - I do better without glasses at all, so maybe there's hope for a cheaper option this time.

PR19_Kit

I have some bi-focals for close-in work, reading, modelling and computer stuff, but their upper sector is tuned to mid-distance, which I had for work so I could see the test rigs in the cells with the upper sector, and then glance down to see what the computer THOUGHT the rig was doing.

It usually wasn't, or the customer wouldn't have called me in.  ;D

Virtually no progress as I've had the optitians and the hospital opthalmic department appointments to deal with, stll got one to do, the sorting out of this coming year's GB schedule and to cap it all I've got the next UK Newsletter to sort out - hopefully the coming week. Slightly busy bunny

Hopefully when I get time I'll still have the necessary enthusiasm  :-X

Mind you there's also the Cup Final to look forward to

I heard a rumour that CP won a match recently but, as the roundball sport doesn't interest me much, I didn't pay enough attention to find out who they'd beaten.  ;)

I just thought "Oh, that'll make Chris happy!"  ;D

I'm not a fan of round ball sports of any kind but I am a fan of round things ..preferably in dirt and turning very fast  ;D
I also like those round things to be connected to metal things making lots of noise

I saw Specsavers last Saturday; they're currently having a sale, so I got a set of specs with graduated lenses, and a new eye test* for $199.
Yeah, I was pretty amazed as well. Two weeks and I should be able to see a whole lot better again.

*Required, as the current specs are at least 10 years old...
but apparently my bad eye isn't so much anymore, so that's pleasing - and one reason I resisted getting a new set for so long; there have to be some compensations to getting older...  ;)
