Is there an aircraft as pretty as a Hunter?            Discuss, as they say in exam questions.

With a prop, yes. The Westland Whirlwind, the M.B.5 ? and a few more  ;)
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Well, depends on how you define "Pretty" I guess. It's a VERY subjective description at best. "Pretty", like "beauty" is surely very much in the eye of the beholder? 😉😂

A very valid question too.

Maybe a F4D Skyray comes close, but nothing else is really in the ball park to my mind.

This was posed as one of those questions designed to promote ( or should that be provoke?) discussion. I'm not sure that there is a "right" answer.

A really off the wall answer came from an elderly Belgian pilot I met some years ago.  His view was that if you are 100 miles out over the Atlantic in a DC7 with one engine out  and another one sounding unhealthy, the most beautiful aircraft in the world is the Shackleton that had been tasked to act as your shepherd on the approach to Prestwick / Machriehanish / Ballykelly.

The Ouragan is a largely forgotten type, and definitely under Whiffed.  Tempting indeed

I have a stalled wiff ouragan in a draw, I have made it into a two seater. It will be a Honduras air force trainer.

The Ouragan reminds of the Gloster CXP-1001.

I'd say the whole Ouragan/Mysterie family falls into that category. Though with a lot of these things I suspect model availability at a sensible price plays its part. After all, who would want to go extensively whiffing a 1/72 Mriya and risk it going wrong

I have plans to build a Mystère as an Indian aircraft. I will probably get a load of punters wondering why it's a what-if.

I have a couple(?) of Heller Ouragans stashed away, the idea being for at least one of them to be a subtle what-if. "Everybody knows" that Honduras had ex-Israeli Super-Mysteres with J52 engines and Shafrir AAMs, and "everybody knows" that El Salvador had some Israeli-refurbished Ouragans, so the whiff is to do an El Salvadorean Ouragan with Shafrirs and sit back to see if anybody notices that that combination of aircraft and missile never actually happened.

Nice one Dizzy. The Ouragan (and the Mystere IV) are excellent basis for many early Soviet designs. The Ouragan in particular is basically a low-wing, straight-wing MiG-15, and there were a number of Soviet prototypes that were just like that.

It's even got the same engine.  ;D
