Hmm, if I could remove it without damaging it too much, it could be utilised elsewhere I suppose.

If you took a fine razor saw to it, it should come off nicely with some care.  As a bonus, when they fitted the radome to the Shackleton they used a collar to make it fit.  Something similar could hide any rough edges.

Sounds like a plan to me Mossie.

And the same radomes started off on Skyraiders!  :o

Quote from: chrisonord on February 17, 2024, 11:35:07 AMI need to look inside the 1/72nd scale one's box to see if the radome is separate or not, as the airframe sans radome, screams C.O.I.N/ Close air support with rockets and bombs under the wings.

I'd long thought of a normal Gannet used for that role.  Gave up on it as the Gannet is something that doesn't work for me.

Sword have teased us with the release of  both a new mold Grumman Goose, and a Seamew in 72 nd scale. Just seen it on their Facebook page, only 3D renderings of the Seamew, but sprue shots of the Goose. I am interested in the Seamew for sure.

Ah, is it a Curtiss Seamew or a Short Seamew though?

The Seamew would make a good armed spotter/patrol aircraft. Hmm... I am seeing one in desert cam with rocket pods and guns, doing an aerial patrol around the African Uranium mines.

FABULOUS! Mine is en route to the scarp bin right now!

BAGS of Whiffability there of course. And it's one of the few aircraft that both the FAA and the RAF ordered too.

Interesting factoid...........Winkle Brown described the Seamew as  "...one of the most unpleasant aeroplanes I have ever flown..."
