Rediculous, especially when you can get that kit and the better second release version for less, on this page

'twould be nice if Airfix were to forget about an earlier Supermarine product. and give us one of these.

But it's soooo....iconic, and "saved" (all by itself with no help from Hawker, or Boulton, or Bristol, etc.) Jolly Old England from the Hun.

Actually, I can relate to that. Before Airfix reissued the 1966 Concorde as a, Vintage Classic, I put a pair up for auction on the Bay of E.
One was the original BOAC example and, the  other was the Air France version which , I understand was produced separately for the  French market.

Starting at £1.99 each, I sat back in amazement to a bidding war between two obviously very determined individuals!!

The French example finally topped out at about £77 and, the BOAC one at £59. I couldn't believe it! 😉😂

I thought I might get about a tenner each so to say I pleasantly surprised is putting it mildly.

Any item is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it. While I may question their sense, it's also their prerogative to pay what they think fit.

That wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't a rubbish kit in the first place! They got the starboard wing slot at the wrong angle so the wing was always at a higher angle of incidence to the port one. It needed LOTS of filing of the slot to get the thing right.

And the 'Classic' re-pop is STILL like that!  :banghead:  :banghead:
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Well, I suspect the individuals who bought them had no intention of building and, were simply looking for more boxes to gather dust on their shelves.
I built two of the Vintage Classic kits and, the wing to fuselage fit was better than on the 1976 retool! No filling needed at all😊.
However, given Airfix's less than stellar quality control, I'm not surprised to hear you had problems. Even the newer kits have problems. I still shudder at the memory of the fight the Shackleton MR. 2 put up! 😉😂

I agree it would be nice although, I wish I could understand the fascination for what was, in truth, not one of Supermarine's finest. Still that's just me😉😂.

Isn't someone other than Airfix supposed to be currently working on a Scimitar anyway?

Ah, but you can get it cheaper by opting for the 'paid delivery' from the same supplier.

Then it only costs £14.36...............................  :o

A true optimist!  :o

Some people seem to think that old FROG stuff just has to be priced in three figures, just because it's FROG. But when you know them, they're always 'different', but never all that great in quality.

Good Whiff fodder, just not at that price!

Do you think they tapped the 00 instead of the 0? Seen that happen once or twice to the more...mature volunteers at the shop.

I can sympathise with that  :-\
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
