£100 for a 1/700 destroyer?  :o

Yes - you're missing the fact that it's 1/144th scale, not 1/700th... ;D

:banghead: And that's after looking it up on Scalemates too...

LOL - Don't worry mate, we've all done it. I was pleased as punch to pick up a BQM-34 drone model at Coventry last year to hang under an Airfix Lancaster, only to realize after I'd got home that it was 1/48th scale, not 1/72nd... :banghead:

On my fav and really only auction site here in NZ called Trademe there's this dude whos been trying to sell a first release 1980 Monogram 48th scale F-100D Super Saber ,,now theres nothing to odd about there ,,whats odd is the stupid arse price he wants for it ,,$99.99 NZ  :o
I picked up the same kit ,,a 1992 release with new decals for $40NZ ...and there's been others up for sale and have sold on Trademe from Trumpeter,Revell and Monogram for a hell off a lot less and yet he won't change his price..the dude is dreaming

Yes, but the bigger house I'd need to accomodate it wouldn't be cheap.

Besides, nobody does Lancastrian conversions in 1/48th.

Lancastrians were used as test beds for all sorts of engines, so you could do a what-if one and it would be very credible.

Oh boy ,,,that's going to open a massive kettle of fish that is ,,,,with the jet engines fitted that makes it a RW aircraft so something more extreme or somehing just plain different will have to be thought up and mate ,,that's going to give me ol brain a right wacking thats for sure .

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Test all the engines at once: Python turboprops on the inboard nacelles, Double Mamba turboprop on the nose, Nene turbojets in place of the outboard ones (there's a conversion in 1/72nd for the real-life testbed), and a DH Spectre rocket engine in the tail...

You don't have to run them all at once: take-off and cruise out over the Atlantic on the turboprops to save fuel, then climb as high as you can by adding the turbojets, then cut in the rocket when you get so high that the other engines are gasping.

Then launch the space rocket off the back...

Just add some steel wire (aerodynamic) for rigging, to keep it together. As in https://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php?topic=51911.msg1017559#msg1017559
