Had a look inside the new Airfix 262 2 seater.  You can't use the Czech option as the kit is the B1a/U1 only, the trainer has a different cockpit layout and the seat much further back.

I do like the captured RAF option as, you know, the Nazis LOST!

Holy Mother of Microsol, HOW MANY FREAKIN' STENCILS ARE THERE IN THE AIRFIX PHANTOM?!!!!!!!! :o :o :o :o

There are 547, yes, FIVE HUNDRED AND FORTY-SEVEN decal numbers on the sheet..... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

That's why I never bother with stencils.  Except for the really important ones...like RESCUE

You're sure about that? :o

I'm sure they won! Why else would model companies produce so much German stuff in comparison to everywhere else?

And why is there all this Japanese stuff? There was never a war in the Asia-Pacific region, was there? :-\

Ah, didn't realise that. Cheers. Doesn't bother me as mine will be a nightfighter and I'm assuming that the engine/leading edge join will take the same amount of fixing on the two seater as on the single, so at least I'm prepared for it.

So I've been thinking.  It's OK, was sat down and the sharp objects were in a safe place.

If a Bucc is due this year can a new 1/72 Jaguar GR1/GR3 be on the cards for next year?  That's essentially the full set of RAF 70s and beyond jets done, the ones with no direct up to date (ish) competing kits, that is.

WW2-wise a new Lysander, perhaps?

I was thinking that as the Tornado will be retired from RAF service this year that they may do a new version of that at some point perhaps?

As long it is a new kit, not like when they brought out the GR.4. It was just the previous kit with an extra sprue added. Same with the BAE Typhoon kits, bought it when they first introduced it as the Eurofighter, then when it was boxed as the F.2, it was 'whoopie' and went out and bought it --- but it was just the same as the first boxing ---  :banghead: and the box art was showing certain weapons onboard but nothing of the like in the box ---

It'd have heavy competition from the Revell kit, the one that's a NATO weapons kit with an added Tornado just for fun.
Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

Had a good look at the 1/48 Hunter I recently acquired yesterday and boy does it look good  Airfix have taken some interesting approaches to the way it goes together in terms of parts breakdown etc and they look as though they will all go to make a painless build.

I'll be building this real world but if they bring a 1/72 version out I can see me building a few more.

Got mine yesterday too.  Interesting the way they did the upper wing.  Agree it looks a cracking good kit!
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Have you tried the Revell 1/72 one Chris? It's a honey too.

It is indeed Nick. They taken an innovative approach to kit breakdown in a few of their recent kits. Makes me wonder if the lead designer is a non modeller and approaching it from a blank piece of paper or a modeller approaching it from experience ?

No I haven't Kit, but then I don't build much post 1949. Mind you I will be building the Airfix Buccaneer when it's out
