Well.... don't ya just hate being first out here..

Nevermind, here she is, AT configured S-Tank.

I'm thinking Rhodesia instead of Zimbabwe, no minority rule & nice chaps all round fighting against Soviet backed Mugabe & the rest of his lot.... can never remember if its ZANU, ZAPU or whatever, bit like the Judean Popular People's Front if you ask me.  Just the thing for chopping up retread T-55s and the like.

2nd build completed for me.  This time a heavy AT Hummer.  Originally I had thought to use four missiles, but decided upon just the two with reloads in the cabin.  Added a designator to the roof, a shield for the 'Ma Deuce' and to top it off gave it snow cammies and some Canadian armoured markings (although these can barely be seen).

Another build for me, based on the Heller Souma S35.

I guess this would be called a Schwere Wurfgerat auf PzKpfw 35(f) or somesuch.

JB Models 1/76 Alvis Saracen, Berlin Brigade of the British Army of the Rhine.

In 1984, the decision was made to alocate four Alvis Saracens to the Berlin Brigade of the British Army.  The garrisons FV432's had been used heavily in exercises & border patrol.  It was felt that some dedicated APC's were required for FIBUA (fighting in built up areas) training but that the FV432's were too valuable spare.  Four of the oldest Saracens from Northern Ireland were sent over to Berlin, where they were used in FIBUA training at Ruhleben Fighting City.  They were retired in 1991, shortly before the garrison was disbanded.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

G'day Gang,

Whilst ploughing on thru Uni studies, I've managed another build.  This is a bigger conversion than previous efforts and represents a basic T-55 series vehicle with an externally mounted gun.  Whilst the barrel is T-55 all the way, the reciever, etc was from a Japanese anime kit long since dead, so I added a couple of bits & bobs to busy it up.

I'm the first to admit to knowing precious little about Warpac armour organisations, etc, so I just went with some generic hull numbers and a fictious camoflage scheme.

Hi Bluntie
I think your Panzer IIS is a great bit of modelling, very convincing, what an imagination you must have and I hope we see more.

G'day Gang,

Here's a couple of pics of my latest GB build.  It's an LAV variation for the ARA (Australian Regular Army).

In this, I surmised that the initial problems with the LAV-25 trials here led to the decision by the Govt to cut out the middle man and buy direct from MOWAG.  As part of the decision, the large turret with it's two crew was opted out and they went for the UGWS with a single crewman mounting a 50cal HMG and a 40mm GL as a more flexible response and obviating the need to have an extra crewman (earlier Recce M113s having two crew only).  The smaller turret also meant that more personnel could be carried allowing the older M113s to be phased out or modified for other duties.

G'day Gang,

Here's another ARA build for the GB.  It's based on the K200 KIFV with an M60A2 sub turret.  I've replaced the 50cal in the sub with a Vulcan and have extended the mount to suit.  I've also added a radar & FFAR pod which houses my own concept of a SDGW (Small Diameter Guided Weapon), a dual role (AT-AA) missile.

Reasons for this one were a replacement for our 'buckets' (M113s) instead of the variety of vehicles (LAV-PC, Trucks, etc, etc) the Army is currently fielding.

Hi All,

Never submitted to a GB before, so here is my first crack...M1A7 Abrams ASAADS (AuStralian Anti-Aircraft Defence System)

And the story...the Spratly Islands incident of 2015 lead to some serious discussion amongst the Australian defence chiefs. Traditionally, the Army had always relied on the RAAF to provide protection from enemy airstrikes. Sadly, burgeoning costs at the beginning of the decade meant that the RAAF could only buy a token force of F-35s, and those that were available were tied up in homeland defence and strategic strike missions.

In 2016 the Army started the M1A7 ASAADS program, by acquiring 40 reconditioned M1A1HA hulls from the US. They also acquired 47 retired Gepard turrets from Germany. The program was contracted to Walkers Engineering of Maryborough, Queensland, and the prototype was rolled out in 2018.

The bigger hull of the Abrams (compared to the original Leopard) provided much improved storage for additional ammunition. Combined with greatly improved electronics and optronics the M1A7 met all of the project goals, with delivery to the Army from 2019. Force operational capability was achieved in mid-2020. By this time, the RAAF had become enthusiastic supporters of the project (since it removed their need to provide tactical air defence to army formations), and ended up taking 18 of the systems for airfield defence at remote locations.

In service the M1A7 was quickly called the prong. Apparently the crews liked sticking it to the flyboys.

The donor kits are the Heller Gepard and Trumpeter M1A1HA. Work started in early March. I have a plan for the Gepard hull, which includes painting it yellow. Not sure what I'll do with the Trumpeter turret. Best thing I learned was how good Humbrol Dullcote is as an airbrushed matting agent.

Comments, feedback and suggestions most welcome!
