Thought it would be interesting to see what scales are the most prefered

To me, it depends on what I'm building. For armor, I build in 1/35. I prefer 1/72 in aircraft, unless I'm going all out on detail, then I'll build 1/48. Cars I build 1/24-1/25(Why they standardized both I'll never know). And my slot cars are in 1/32 and 1/43 scale, but I'm planning a 1/24 drag car as well. I'll build just about anything.

Well I've voted 1/72 but have been tempted to go to 1/48 and, indeed, I've been buying a lot of 1/48 scale stuff for the stash this year (Spitfires, F-111c, FB-111a, Super Etendard, F-14a Tomcat, F-105's) and selling off 1/72 on ebay.

Now I'm confused and might start building in 1/72 scale again

basicly i love (and am crazy about) working in 1/144, but i do love to work in 1/72 to  B)

Folks,

1/72nd for me.  The only items in my collection which are larger are some very specific kits which I purchased more for their individual nature than anything else.  Things like the Dick Tracy Space Coupe or the Lost In Space Robot fall into this category.  The only things much smaller than 72nd scale are spaceships or spacecraft.  Think Polar Lights Enterprise or Narcissus "lifeboat" from Alien.

I've found 72nd to be the right match for small storage space and breadth of my preferred subject matter - prototypes, one off's, Luft 46, etc.,.

I've also seen the difference in price between 72nd scale kits and 48th scale ones of the same subject.  While such oddball subjects in 72nd scale can cost a pretty penny, in 1/48th they're well nigh obscene in price!

Some reseach company discovered that people like their trinkets to be slightly larger than one hand up to slightly smaller than two hands in size.    Since single engine aircraft are typically what I do, it's been 1/48 for decades.   My last 1/72 kit was Monograms Me-110 in the 1970's although the new Nimrod just may change that.

I voted 1/144 but I enjoy 1/72 as well. Both have their advantages.

as a   ARMOR JUNKIE   I perfer 1/35 but I do build 1/72 armor & aircraft as well as some 1/48 aircraft

For myself, I haven't voted as I don't see the point.  The poll is quite restrictive in that it doesn't allow for multiple choices.  Just because I build aircraft in 72nd, doesn't mean that I build armour in the same scale for instance

Mossie

Well, 1/72 is my main scale although I have done aircraft in 1/48 & 1/144 & I've got 1/32 & /124 in the stash..  If I was to build armour too, I'd probably build them in the aircraft scales or OO/1/76 rather than 1/35.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Agreed, either allow multiple votes or include a button for 'no preference'.

Personally, I tend to go by subject rather than scale. If the only, or at least only readily available, kit is in X scale then I build it in that scale.

The lack of multiple-choice is a limitation in the forum software.

Jennings

One choice doesn't cover it.  It depends on what it is, how I feel, and how nice the kit is.

I like 1/72 because I can compare my P-47, C-130, X-wing fighter, and AMX-30 to each other.  Granted armor in that scale is a tough thing, and very few ships exist in that scale, this is one of the advantages of this scale. B)

I/48 almost entirely. Mainly to do habit and availability and it's easier on my eyes. Plus, the advantage of adding as much detail as I want. :)
