Really 1/72 because it leaves more space but I've seem to be getting into 1/48 recently.  I guess it really depends on the impact that I want to make, or more accurately, whatever kit I have on hand!

Captain Canada

Mostly 72nd scale. Just seems right ! I also enjoy armour in 72nd scale. I'm happy with all the 144th scale stuff coming out as well, and also enjoy 350 scale ships.

Mainly build in 1/72nd scale for everything, aircraft and armour especially, but I have gained an interest in bi planes from somewhere , one of my club mates me thinks, and I'm actually using 1/48th for those.

Got a Fokker DVII on the go at the moment, the bloody nose is in 5 parts including the engine and does it want to fit together??? NO ON YOUR LIFE!!! Ah well, if it went together shake and bake style, it wouldn't be so much fun now would it??

QuoteI stick to 1/72 scale,

space wise at home it's the only way to go.

my thoughts entirely! although i have bought a very few 1/144 kits over the years.

I voted 1/72, but to be honest it depends on what I'm building. I'll do modern jets/twin props in 1/72, 1/100 & 1/144, heavies in 144th & Helos/props in 1/48.

With 3 cats, my "safe" model display area is fairly small, but my primary scales are 1/72 for most aircraft and some armor, 1/48 and 1/32 for some WWI aircraft, 1/35 for armor, 1/350 for ships and larger aircraft, the occasional 1/700 scale ship, 1/1000 for some Star Trek models and now I'm starting intro 1/144 aircraft, thanks to you evil guys.

I thought originally I would try to stick with 1/48, but because of how the model industry is, sticking to a scale just doesn't work that well.  Lately I've been intrigued by the little 1/144 birds, but not because of space or anything.  It's just a matter of what's out there that looks like it would be fun and challenging.  I have to admit I haven't done anything in 1/72, but that's going to have to change pretty soon.  I've got this terrible itch to pick up that Trumpeter Blackjack. . .

QuoteFor myself, I haven't voted as I don't see the point.  The poll is quite restrictive in that it doesn't allow for multiple choices.
Sorry about that, i did think all the choices through before posting, but a multiple ascales option didnt occur to me, as i only/mainly stick to 1/72...
However, as the forum software wont allow me to edit the poll either, i cant add a "multiple scales" or "Dont care" option, however i added the "others" option for a reason ;)
Perhaps moderators or administrators could add a sticky post to the forum, warning that a multiple choices option would be a good idea?  (not that it allows multiple choices, but so that future polls will include a "dont care", or "multiple scales" option.) This should mean we avoid these problems in the future

Mostly 1/72 scale Aircraft, mostly for space reasons & because I like to build bombers as well & the thought of a 1/48 scale B-36 is most terrifying!

probably like most people I started on 1/72 but now prefer 1/48. For armour I do 1/35

But when it comes to trains do you prefer O or HO?

Very funny, I hate trains and trainspotters   ;)

Though I do know an Harrier pilot who likes choo choos............lifes odd innit

My major preference is 1/72, though I also like 1/48.  I am getting the bits together for a HO-scale railroad whif derived from a serious AT&SF engine study but applied to a classic engine of another road.

QuoteI like 1/72 because I can compare my P-47, C-130, X-wing fighter, and AMX-30 to each other.  Granted armor in that scale is a tough thing, and very few ships exist in that scale, this is one of the advantages of this scale. B)
This is also the main reason I build almost entirely in 72nd.  I also like PT boats and Landing craft and in this scale, they aren't too expensive or too big.

There are a few things I will build in 35th scale, and I like 1/1000 for Trek stuff but there isn't much out there.  I also have a few car kits in 24th (Herbie, etc) and the odd figure kit but mostly 72nd.

WARNING: HERETICAL STATEMENT AHEAD!

Scale is just about the last thing I care about, in fact I don't care at all unless it comes down to a storage/display space choice. A 1/144th B36 would win over a 1/24th one. If it's an unusual subject I love it no matter what the scale, even those Revell 'box scale' issues from the fifties, I've done a few of them and there's more in the stash. If it looks like a good subject for whiffery then it's on my list.  :dum:
