Nick

I shall be there with models for the Viff-Whiff display and our usual lunatic stand!

Is there still a Schneider Trophy build going on? I might have one for that.

Sorry to hear you can't make it Lance, I'm sure life will improve for you soon.

Sorry to hear you wont be there this year Lance but then i'm sure you'll make up for it by doing twice as many next year (especially with theme for SMW08).

Sorry folks, a financial disaster has hit me. I am not going to be able to attend at all now.

Absolutely gutted, but sorting other things out must take priority.

O.K.

Nah Dunc was there last year, but it was more a visit than full participation as he had the family along (Recall some interesting looks when he stopped by to talk shop  ;) )

Are you open for membership? Or have I already joined???? (Must find meds)

I'll be there Sat I think.
Yeah, me too!  I asked Ken Duffey earlier in the year on ARC and he said there were only 2 members!  That must make you the other one then McGreig!

Just so's I know, are Soviet a/c in non-Soviet service within the SIGs remit?  eg an Indian An-32 (hint)

Yes, I'm "the other one" (although I prefer to describe myself as looking like Lenin, rather than not looking like Ken  ;) )

We're certainly open to new members. After a good start - we had @ 60 members and put out a 25 page newsletter 4 time a year - the SIG has been pretty much dormant for the last five years, and I'm now making a positive effort to revive it. I may even have a Newsletter ready for Telford.

At the moment we've got 12 IPMS members (well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it) but Ken Duffey and I are normally the only ones contributing to the display and manning the stand. So if anyone wants to help out or contribute kits, let me know so that I can plan for them - at the moment we've got twelve feet of double depth tables but Ken's Bear, Blackjack and Il-76 can take up most of our space by themselves     Soviet aircraft in other markings are OK - I'll be putting out models with Azerbaijani, Chinese and East German markings (and a couple of whiffs)!

Soviet Aircraft SIG Commissar

Might I suggest you get your own forum?  Or get yourself hosted on another forum such as ARC or Britmodeler?  It would do wonders for the SIG - just look at what this forum has done for the Whif SIG.

I also thought I'd joined the Soviet a/c SIG either last year or the year before./ I remember taslking to the chap manning the stand saying that there were only a few members at the time. Funnily enough, I haven't heard anything since, and that is one SIG I DO want to be a member of as well as my  'home' SIG of What if.

Yeah I gave my details to the guy on the stand about 2 years ago when they had that Wif Tu-22 fighter of the PVO on the table, but he said they didn't do newsletters etc.
Bloody Hell - I'm going to have to attend Telford in disguise

I have to confess that, if you talked to "a guy on the stand", it was probably me and, if you haven't heard anything since, it's me you haven't been hearing from  ;) .

Unfortunately, the last two years have just been one long sequence of one-damn-thing-after-another, culminating in the house, office and schools move immediately after last year's Telford.    This is why the SIG has been dormant, as running the SIG and producing the Newsletter etc was essentially a one man show.

However, things have now settled down a bit and the current position with the Soviet Aircraft SIG is that I intend to reinstate the Newsletter/Magazine, update the membership list, have a SIG stand at least three model shows in 2008 and encourage other members apart from Ken and myself to put models into the SIG display.

I've thought about putting the SIG on to the Internet but, hey, I can't even set up my avatar or manage links properly on this site,  :dum:  so setting up a website or forum would probably be a shade ambitious right now. But, with some help and advice, maybe in the future - - -

So, if you want to join, think you already have joined or have any useful suggestions, come and see me at Telford, where I will have lots of up-to-date membership forms (honest - - -)
