Congrats to #1 son then, but it's always a bit of a shaker when your offspring start to spread their wings and head of into a world of their own, isn't it?

Anywhere south of the A303 tends to be wall-to-wall Chinooks these days, doesn't it?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

I do like the Stalwart... I must furbish my old Airfix one at some point... probably just before Dragon brings their one out...

S&M Models have released a very nice resin kit, and they offer different variants...

My old Scout group had a ride over a lake in one several years ago. By all accounts it was a great night I missed.

Yeah thanks, but... Resin...  :-\ :banghead:

Dont worry it is not resin but 100% plastic.

Either the police helicopter or air ambulance. Probably the former as it hung around in the hover for a fair bit. This is where my deaf ear comes in handy. I just lie with the good one on the pillow  ;)

Interestingly, I used to work with an Irish academic who had worked for the British Government in Belfast.  When she arrived, she complained that she couldn't get to sleep because Canberra was too quiet at night.  She was used to hearing the RAF/Army Helicopters cruising around on patrol, looking for the bad guys.   It is amazing what amounts of noise that one can become used to and sleep through.   When I was in the Army downunder, when on exercise I used to sleep within about 20 feet of a 150 or 200 cubic foot fridge motor.   Never worried me.  Unless it broke...   :banghead:

Same with me, I spent most of my early life until I was 15-16 either on or near an airfield or on Croydon with Adolf's guys dropping bombs on me.

When Dad retired and we all went to live in a house some distance from a main road in Oxford I couldn't sleep at all! The B-36s and B-47s that the USAF flew overhead into Brize Norton  were a welcome soporific!

I know what you mean. When I went on Safari in Kenya the first time I just couldn't get to sleep. far to quiet, no background noise at all. Helicopters however are just noisy for the sake of it and I swear the Old Bill use where I am just to practice because the woods and abundance of playing fields gives them lots of different landscapes to play on.

He! He!, the local plod in Calgary have two helicopters, one was/is a Hughes NOTAR.  When we lived there it almost every night would be circling around our neighbourhood doing sharp turns so the rotor made  a lot of racket.  Within minutes our son would arrive home in his car and we came to notice that  ---- coincidence or what ----  :-\

The Police here, in Perth like to use their chopper to hunt miscreants at all times of day and night.  Most particularly night.  Where I used to live, I remember one night hearing the Police chopper flying around.   Everytime it left the area I could hear someone sniggering.   A few minutes later, the chopper would return,  Again it would leave, not having found who it was hunting for.  Again I could hear laughter and shouting in the distance.   Happened twice more.   I think the little buggers got bored and moved on.   My house backed onto a park and thence onto the local Primary School.    I suspect they were running along the park (which bisected the suburb along a creek line) and back again.   Good use of the vegetation as camouflage and stopping movement, fooled the chopper.   :banghead:

Had a shift to do at YYC today, for the most part not a lot to do except watch construction workers coming and going but I got to look at this all day, which was only about 100 feet away
