Love the noise!

I'm surprised NATO never upgraded their TF-33s to CFM-56s, it's got to be costing a bomb in fuel.

Same thing with the USAF, Kit.  They upgraded the 135s but no the Sentries or the E-8s

Everybody by now knows its way past time to reengine the B-52 but it hasn't happened yet! Sometimes the obvious things seem to never get done.

Had the BBMF Lanc over here at quite low level this afternoon.  judging by the heading, I'm assuming she was heading home from Fairford

its Belgium Independence day today (and the corronation of our new king, Fillip/Phillipe I)
i was expecting to to see a formation of SeaKings with an NH90 today, but they decided to take of from a base in the walloons.
i did see a Belgian Navy Alouette III earlier today.

last week was also nice, seen some SeaKings, EMS Helicopter, the usual R22/44's...
but i did also had some different, a Boeing Stearman shortly before leaving to the UK and an Estonian AF Antonov AN-2 (on its way to Fairford)
on the bench:

-all kinds of things.

That Colt must have been in the air the past week, fighting its way to Fairford ;D

Loves JMNs but could never eat a whole one!!

Today's score:- a couple of red nosed Navy Sea Kings, an elderly, VERY NOISY, Reims Cessna from the local flying club and the inevitable air ambulance.

Mrs_PR19 and I had our lunch at The Aviator Cafe at Staverton Airport, and was it ever busy!

Loads of GA stuff coming and going, Piper PA28s and Cessna 172/182s predominating of course, plus a couple of Robinson R22s and an R44 doing chopper training on the north side of the field. But there were also a few odd-balls, two Slinsgby Fireflies, one yellow and one white, a Beech King Air 350 and a Partenavia P68 for goodness sake! I can't remember the last time I saw a P68, they're so rare around here.

To cap it all we could just see the Jet Age Museum's Meteor T7 and Javelin FAW9 waaaaay over on the far side of the airfield.  ;D

Saw a Do328Jet on the ground at KACY on my way to grab lunch, and had a Superbug blow their touch and go while passing over our squadron building this afternoon at about 150' for the go around

Missed the BA 787 in Edinburgh that Albeback posted pics of. Didn't know about it till our delivery guy from China Express (great grub!) told me!
Saw a DC-3/C-47 on Sunday 11th August, sounded great and I can't remember the last time I saw one! Followed by Norwegian 737-800, Air Canada Rouge 767-300, United 757 and Turkish 737-900.

On the 5th of August I put this in its own thread... Not sure why... Possibly a grey moment.

Anyway, I'm putting it in here with a slightly more current follow up.

***************************************************

I am not, at the moment, on Christmas Island - I was there for literally 48 hours when I was asked "Do you want to go to Cocos? You've got 10 minutes to decide." So, here I am on the Cocos (Keeling) Islands, West Island, at the old Quarantine Station on 24/7 standby in case an asylum seeker boat arrives here.

My house just happens to be right under the airfield approach/departure lane. This morning I heard a turboprop winding up & taking off, next thing I know this is coming in to land.

Sad part is, as I type this, an Orion has just landed - lower - which I just missed! Bugger!

*******************************************************************

Follow up:

A few days ago I got these shots at the Cocos Islands' Airport.

Toll Holdings are a large Australian conglomerate with it's fingers in many odd pies, Kit.  They provide services to government and private industry for lots of different things.  They are quickly becoming sort of like a local Halliburton. To say more would break the rules about politics, I fear.
