In passing, do those side cheek thingies have any connection with the IDF Phalcon pods on their 707s? They look very similar.....

I think I was told they're side looking radar Kit, now all I need is some decal company to come out with a 1/72 RAF sheet for it, I've got the kit already --

I've been seeing the P-8 Poseidon over Jacksonville a LOT more often.  Saw a couple of them trundling around the sky yesterday.  That's not a spotters opportunity many have.

Cheers,

So are the Phalcon pods, makes me wonder if they were some sort of quid pro quo deal for many of the IDF aircraft?

Oddly enough I found I have one of those RC-135s in The loft too! Mine has TF-33 engines but I have a CFM-56 set somewhere too. Can't remember buying the darn thing....

Not over my house exactly ...

Yesterday on the train home an Airbus Beluga climbing Northwards out of Birmingham (UK!) Airport passed overhead. Not sure what it was doing at Birmingham?
Oh to be whiffing again :-(

Possibly because it found out they'd closed Filton and couldn't land there?  ;)

Couldn't see anything thanks the overcast (the kind that screams snooooow) but I could certainly hear the buzzing of Bugs ALL day.  Love it when all you hear is a half second roar because they turned  ;D

Normally Airbus send the wings from France to the UK (or is it the other way round?) by barge. Unfortunately said barge had a little mishap in the Atlantic and got grounded. Oops!
I think they've gone back to air delivery while the boat gets repaired.

Thanks to our wonderful government the USN had to shuffle around its CVBG deployments at the last minute sending CVN-69 instead of CVN-75 2 days before 75 was due to leave...   Her air wing expressed their frustration and anger last night with a 5 hour display of maneuvers over the Hampton Roads area.  The heavy overcast hide them from sight but the roar of so many engines could not be masked.  What an enjoyable evening

All Airbus wings are built in UK, AFAIK the smaller ones at Filton which are usually trucked out, but in BIG trucks, and the larger ones at Hawarden, which usually go via the barge route.

I've seen Belugas at both sites in the past, the Filton bound ones looking like Zeppelins on their approach from my front door step some 15-20 miles away!

The rivet joint side cheeks predate the Phalcon cheeks by quite a margin. And you should remember having a Rivet joint in your stash...you had two, the 2nd was sold to me!

Gotcha, thanks. Just an idea I had after doing some work in Tel Aviv a long time ago..........  ;)

And you're right, I DID have two of them now that you mention it. The question is, why?
