Nice shots, Hawkeye! The one with the moon is very impressive, but my favorite is the flock of geese in 'formation' with the bizjet.

Took these about six years ago at the Yorkshire Airshow held at Elvington.  You've probably heard about the guy, Christian Moullec.   The geese really are flying in formation with the microlight, he taught them to do so while rearing them.  Their formation was a bit shabby to due to blusttery conditions, they were apparantley much better than this normally!

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Thanks!

The weather here has been very unseasonable for our area. Warmer...no much warmer than normal which has more Geese remaining in the area since they have access to open water and food. Still seeing Sand Hill Cranes too.  The Geese were heading for the airport's wide open grassy areas, so they have been a bit of an issue with aircraft just before sunset as they flock and fly in. No collisions yet, watched a Cessna 172 and a flock heading head on towards each other both yielding left to give each other room in the pattern.

Its not the workbench that makes the model, it is the modeler at the workbench.

I like that stitched take-off panorama, and what airline does this one (below) belong to? I like the livery. The formation geese are great too.

for the past 2 days, Belgian Army Agusta A-109BA have been conducting nightflying exercises in the area, and will continue for the rest of the week.

also, yesterday ive seen a twin afterburner in the sky, outside work, then it was turned off, could have been a Tornado, Rafale or USAFE F-15

I really enjoyed the movie Fly Away Home which is based on the same premise (and the real-world experiences of Bill Lishman, the first to get a flock of geese he reared to formate on his microlight).

This is a brand new Gulfstream 5 which is nearing its delivery to its customer. Appleton, WI has a Gulfstream finishing and maintenance facility. Factory fresh "greenies" come here to have the custom interiors and paint schemes installed. As they progress, they must undergo several hours of flight time to test all of the systems onboard and make sure the aircraft is ready for the customer's predelivery inspection. This one is departing on such a test hop. Not sure who purchased this as Gulfstream takes great care to protect the identity of their clients prior to the aircraft being turned over and registered in that person or company's name.

Thanks, Hawkeye. I suppose it's likely to be an executive charter firm or private owner then?

I'd say private as I haven't seen any others in that scheme.  We also see some owned by foreign governments and military on occasion too.

And our own...

Think I've mentioned before that we live under the approach to New Plymouth regional airport, the 'piano keys' are about 2km east of our garden !!. Well not a lot that you would call out of the ordinary happens at New Plymouth airport. There's the shuttles from Wellington & Auckland that come-in every 45mins or so, the helo taxi's to the offshore industry every 10-15mins and of course the leisure flying clubs with their Cessna's Beech's etc, etc. Every so often a P-3 or C-130 will drop-by and shoot some lazy approaches, but on the whole nothing to get too excited about.

I know - because 'Kiwi Zac' told me, that there are also a few 'oddities here. A Yak aerobatic team with four aircraft, a two-seat Vampire and a flight of Aero L39's. Well yesterday afternoon, those three L39's plus the Vampire decided it was 'practice day'. What a show  ;D, admittedly the Vampire seemed to be spending most of its' time trying to catch-up to the others, but the 'driver' didn't stop trying. They seemed to be out for around half-an-hour but really gave a good (free) performance.

Here's to more.... next time with photos, hopefully !!

I have just missed a fantastic photo oportunity.
I was in the kitchen looking north towards Prestwick airport (only a mile and a half away) when the UAE Amiri flight's 747SP carried out a go-around on Rwy 13, just as one of the RAF,s Tristars passed overhead, oposite direction, at 2,000' going outbound in the instrument procedure for the same runway.
Needless to say I did not have the camera to hand, damn.

Maybe an hour ago, I got a glimpse of a C-130 between the low clouds. Most likely a visitor from Sweden.
Just now, a bigger 4 engined jet transport.

Neither is a regular visitor.

You know its a 53 when you hear a loud rumbling that lasts far too long and the house starts shaking a bit.  One went over earlier flying low and slow.  Looked like one of the mine hunting MH-53s from the look of the sponsons.
