Something I used to see all the time in my old house but since I moved to Crawley......a chinook....low,fast n loud heading north towards gatwick airport....looked great...

That might be the same one I didn't see over Croydon!  I heard it but didn't see it - someone in the office said "H is that a Chinook?"  I said yes without looking up (by the time I could stop what I was doing it had gone...) ...they all think I am odd because I knew what it was by the sound!

As with Hman, I heard the BBMF Lanc fly over here this morning, but no way could I see it anywhere.  :banghead:

It couldn't be anything else, there being only one 4 Merlin engined aircraft in this part of the world.

I was out breaking in some new running shoes the other day and I was treated to the sound of several Super Bugs streaking over at high speed and then the low hum of an E-2C.  I actually saw the E-2 but the Super Bugs had already past by the time I heard them.  God I love those sounds

Hehe, of course. With ultra-synchronised engines across a micro-wave link no doubt?  ;D

had a Cessna Skymaster flying over ealier this evening, not used to seeing these twinboomed-pull&pucher prop cessna's here
furthermore there was the usual all yellow AS365N2 Dauphin from Noordzee Helicopters Vlaanderen (NHV)

While shopping in our local CoOp this afternoon I heard a distinctive sound overhead and rushed out of the door, much the amazement of the other shoppers.  ;D

Going directly overhead at around 700 ft was the world's only flying Westland Scout, presumably heading for Fairford, where the Air Tattoo opened today and where I'll be most of tomorrow.

Not over my house...or even near it......but while travelling on the M25 Saturday about 10am heading clockwise towards J9 I was rewarded with seeing a Hurricane on a low loader with the wings off an by its side...almost looked folded like a Hellcat.....only marking I could see as I whizzed by on my bike was a flag under the starboard side of the cockpit (mainly blue with a star..?) and the word BURMA underneath in white......other than the normal RAF roundels.....
BODY,BODY....HEAD..!!!!

Was buzzing around the neighborhood this morning. Wondering what that gadget it's carrying is...

Whether that was a real one or a replica it was painted as Bob Stanford-Tuck's aircraft, DT-A. That blue ensign and the 'Burma' tell all.  ;D

I just had PA474, the BobF Lancaster, pass right over the house again!

This time northbound up the River Severn and she was REALLY low! I just wish they'd let me know when they're coming, then I could get some decent piccies!

Lucky you!!    My usual trade is an assortment of paraffin budgies on their way to their perch at the local Infirmary.   Sea Kings, a Eurocopter or two   and once, a long time ago, a Wasp that   brought in  an injured seaman from a Leander in the Irish Sea.

Same here, over the last few days I've had the usual yella Sea King, Police MD902, CHC S-76 & Alouette II.  The Alouette should have the cool factor, but he's such a regular visitor that he's become normal.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

OK quick Geoggers lesson.... We live in Formby, a wee town about eight miles north of Liverpool and four miles south of Southport.... where there was a 'flypast' today - I refuse to call it an airshow, it's a flypast 'cos the things dont land !.... anyhoos back to the plot:

This afternoon, we were all in the garden enjoying the glorious sunshine and watching the occasional Spitfire, Hawk, Tornado as they 'held' over the town. All very nice until 1615.... THE VULCAN came. Not one side or t'other but straight over our garden/house... not a half-degree to one side, I swear on the lives of  little Hunter-Gtaherer's - who were completely silent for a minute or two after it went over - it went right over our garden/house.... I ran to the front and watched as it banked ever so slightly to east to go off to 'hold' somewhere over 'The Moss' ready for its' display. What a wonderful, wonderful sight.

The BBMF Lanc wasn't with them because it flew over MY house today. It had apparently been to some R/C model aircraft at Winterton (of all places)...
What if... I had a brain?
