That'd be THE Spitfire PRXI, there being only flyable one in the world now.

It'll have been PL965, operated by the Hangar 11 crew out of North Weald, and using its original WWII Merlin engine since March this year.  ;D

Spotted the Blades again, I guess they were off home from the Sunderland show.  I used to spot a lot around the Sunderland show, aircraft track around my little town on the way in & out, but after moving only a short distance I just can't see stuff for being overlooked.  Boo.

The Wooksta!

Today, load of stuff flying over towards the Mackem Air Show.  A Vampire went over when I was going to Morrisons and a Catalina has just flown overhead.  I think there was a pair of Mustangs earlier too.

This past week I've been at AirVenture 2011...I have a thousand or so images to sort through, but here are a few.

All week there has been a B-17 "Aluminum Overcast" and a C-47 flying over the house...giving rides out of Appleton to show attendees visiting Oshkosh.

Its not the workbench that makes the model, it is the modeler at the workbench.

A C-160 Transall came out of EDI at about 15.05 on the first of August, couldn't tell who it belonged to though. Used to get lots of them up here til they shut down RAF Turnhouse.

Saw a Tornado pass over, possibly heard one or two of his mates but couldn't see them.  Later on, I saw what looked very much like a delta wing, I thought it was a Mirage 2000 but I could be mistaken.

Gerald, the second one needs to be in black & white, it's straight out of an old war film!

I was working away on my computer today when I heard a jet overhead.  Not strange you might think, but it is around where I live which is off the beaten path so to speak.  Anyway, it slowly dawned on me that the sound wasn't going away so I went outside to find this four engined airliner, very low just circling around the area (my house being the center of the circle).  I dashed in to grab my new camera which has a 'super-zoom' lens but when I got outside again the aircraft was heading off to Calgary (which is about 100 miles away), I did manage to get a couple of shots off but I'm still figuring out how the camera works so sorry about the pic quality.  I think it's an Airbus A330 but not sure or what airline it was from

It had an all white fuselage but with a grey underside and the blue fin with some logo on it too

This one was an unusual sighting too, because they don't fly around here very often.  It was quite high up and it was weaving in and around some huge storm systems we were having back then, another Airbus I think

Hi kitnut, the first is a Lufthansa A340 the second is a 777.

Cheers guys, I knew somebody here would set me straight.  I'm not sure why the A340 was so low and just circling around, killing time maybe ?   Using up spare fuel perhaps ?

Was just about to go to bed when it sounded like a freight train was coming down the street.  I look outside to a very bright overcast night to the see the shadowy shape of a HH-53E going over with its anti-collision lights on only to be followed by 2 more in quick succession.  Must have been fun flying in that soup last night.
