Came home early from work this afternoon. And im well chuffed I did!
Just had the pleasure of watching XH558 formating with the Blades aerobatic team right over my house! ;D
Like I said well chuffed indeed.

I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

Would have enjoyed that myself Martin  ----

Anyway, I had to make do with these today, while waiting for some contractors to take airside, this taxied right by me (it was about a 100 meters from me)

ZZ175  (apologies with the photo, I'm still trying to figure out how the cell phone works)

A short while later it took off

A couple of hours later three helicopters flying in formation arrived, turned out to be 3 Lynx but the photos I took of them were just crap, no idea what the problem is with the phone.

Later I spotted this over the other side of the runway.

so I went over there to have a closer look

ZZ338

I needn't have bother because about an hour later they towed it right to where I was sitting in my truck

and parked it right in front of me

It's as if they were asking you to take pictures of it when they park that close to you

It looks like there's more RAF aircraft in Canada these days than there are in the UK!  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

They were probably bringing more troops and equipment to go down to Suffield.  ZZ338 is a Voyager KC2, with just the wing refueling pods.

The three Lynx I saw were probably the ones I spotted a few weeks ago, all three of them had wheeled u/c, no skids.

and a Bücker Jungmann with original engine.

Captain Canada

These two flew right over the other day. A little slow on the camera but....looks like a Tiger Moth and a home built ? Or maybe both home built ?

And now I can finally say I've seen an MU-2

And the RAF C-17 was back again today, couldn't make out which one though but I suspect it's ZZ175 as that was the one that came a month or more ago as well as on Monday. Mind you, the RAF boys were showing off again, this time they backed it up under their own power before exiting the apron they were parked on

I have seen/heard Hercules doing that at Benbecula International Airport and even the aircrew no bothering to wait for anyone to remove the chocks in front of the main undercarriage so they "rock" the aircraft back and forth to get enough momentum to go over the top of the chocks. Just a touch nosy when your accommodation block is only a couple of hundred feet from the apron and your just off nights  :banghead:

The RAAF C17 at Avalon for the airshow spent more time taxiing backwards than going forwards.  It was almost as if they were trying to wind the odometer back...

Could be worse...I was told of a C-130 that gained enough momentum to go over the tops of the chocks because of wind speed, whilst up in Iceland.
