Captain Canada

We had a Homeland security Dash 8 fly over the other day. I took a pic with the small lens as I wasn't prepared, but you can tell what it is. I'll post it later tho in a rush

2:15 this afternoon, whilst in central Hereford, four low passes by a Hurricane 2c.  There was supposed to be a Dakota at 2:45, but it never happened.    All to do with Shobdon festival of food and flying.    Isn't a Merlin a lovely sound??

The sound of a Merlin is gorgeous

Every year I take my boy and the nephews to Duxford...I find it a bit boring nowadays but I close my eyes and listen to the Merlins, especially during the massed flyovers (better sound and less sunburned eyeballs ;D).

Yesterday a Piaggio Avanti trundle by right where I was positioned, by the time I got the cell phone out to take a pic all I could see was a distant rear view --  :banghead:

Some excitement the day before, I was near the apron to taxiway entrance, keeping an eye on some workers, when I suddenly heard on the radio that something was coming along that taxiway, took me a second or two to click that is was coming right by me, looked up and saw it was almost on top of us, I had to quickly get the guys back from where they where working at the edge of the apron.  It was a small Citation jet or something along those lines (not up on my small business jet identification right at the moment) which was turning onto the apron to go to the compass rose which is further along the apron.

Well had to go up town for a few things this morning and as I was cutting back to Victoria via St Jame's Park I was over flown by 2 Hurricanes, 5 Spitfires and 4 Typhoons !  ;D ;D ;D All flying up the Mall and over the Palace as a tribute to 75 years since the start of the BoB. One of the Hurricanes is even in SEAC scheme now

Just a shame the Typhoons aren't the right ones. Shame there's no WWII versions left flying
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Whilst walking along the prom at Swanage i spotted a Hercules low level behind the old Harry rocks climb and slowly turn and fly back inland over Studland Bay - para dropping training into the sea for the Royal Marines in Studland Bay i suspect as saw the same operation when i was a student in Bournemouth nearly 30 years ago  :o

Then on the coast road on the way back i had a pair of Westland Wildcats fly over and fly out to RFA Argus which was just off the Chesil Beach, so Deck Landing Training, I remember when they used to take off from Osprey and do their initial training on the converted lighter moored in the harbour before braving RFA Engadine out in Lyme Bay  ;)

You're down in my old stomping grounds Geoff --    There's a good biker bar along the west end of the prom' (erm lets say there was one back in '79 before I left for Canada)

Not exactly over my house, about 15 miles North, but here's the Facebook photo stream for the EAA Arlington Fly-In, the 2015 iteration is going on now.

The DWC Seattle, Boeing 40-C and Gee Bee QED 'recreations' are all there.

its been quite a good week for arrivals at Coventry Airport

on Tuesday afternoon I saw a chinook on finals passing right over my humble abode.

also are there any civil registered Merlins flying in the UK at the mo' or is the demo S-92 in the UK as I saw a strange looking helo
so evidentially in civil and or prototype markings that could have been either type last Monday.

also this lunchtime arrived at Coventry was a B737NG freighter. and was one of the regular visitors to Baginton that istr is used for bloodstock [aka
horses] airfreighting. not sure what reg' they carry but the windows arrangement is very different from a passenger 737 and there are only 4 or 5 windows on the starboard side of the main cabin at the rear.

and if the joker who is wondering if the pilots can't see out, they can. with such valuable freight aboard these a/c always land in well.

Got a couple of pics of this 777 which just happen to taxi past where I was today

I found out later that it was transporting celebrities horses to an event at the Calgary Stampede this year (which wrapped-up yesterday)

Yesterday afternoon, doing a bit of work to a couple of the bikes out at the bottom of the garden (like working down there, coz i can just look out over the sea.
Peaceful!), getting ready for a bike show next weekend, freshly made mug 'o coffee at hand.

Next thing, an unbelievable roar of low flying aircraft. Treated to the practice run by the Patrouille Suisse!

So, sat on me decking for the next 20 minutes, three dogs beside me, coffee, looking out over the irish sea,
sun shining, bikes shining, and my own private air display!

Life is good! ;D

The Bray air show is on tomorrow, just a couple 'o miles up the road. So i will be heading out, with the expected 80,000+, to view in its entirety!

One Chinook and one Blackhawk in the last few days. Then yesterday two flights of three SNJ/T-6 Texans passing east to west. Then what may have been a Ford trimotor buzzing around. Must have been ac heading to an airshow or something like it.

Last night, despite the light pollution the Milky Way was awesome.  It was a crisp, clear, cold night and the stars were twinkling.
It went down to zero eventually - this is a problem as the builders have removed a lot of the walls leaving in places a mere 10mm of plasterboard between us and the outside world.
Tonight there's a bit more cloud cover but earlier I had a classic crescent moon, Venus and Jupiter all together above the neighbours roof.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I'm sure yesterday was the first time I saw the Jämi Fly-in Airshow without getting any parts of my skin sunburned... The only proper rain shower came during a scheduled break, though.

Some of the highlights were 1% of the World's flying P-51s, 50% of the World's Klemm Kl35s, 100% of the World's Gloster Gauntlets, and a formation with a P-51 and two Fouga Magisters.

My least bad photos seem to feature a little red and white aeroplane and a guy who is better known here as a dancer and choreographer:
