Well, as forecast by the Weather Monkeys we awoke to a bit of an ice/sleet/snow event here in western North Carolina today.

Since my flights got cancelled and I'm home I'm going to spend the snow day building  a model I think.  Since it will probably be gone by tomorrow I'm aiming for a quick build.  So far I'm thinking of either an ESCI 1/72 A-4, an Italeri 1/72 RAH-66, a Revell 1/72 Hunter, or an ESCI 1/72 F-5A.  But then again it might be Something Completely Different  :D  .

I'll post progress once the build starts.
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

ESCI F-5A..... a truly magical little kit - I've built three or four and still have two completed on the shelf and two in the stash.

If you are going 'real world' let me know - I got a fantastic old Microscale F-5 sheet at Bolton full of export markings - be happy to cut it up for you in return for those AMRAAM's  ;)

Agreed, the Esci F-5 is a wicked kit. Revell ? I think released it as well, as well as the two-holer.

Nick, I'm voting you do the A-4. I love A-4s !

I've got both ESCI and the recent Italeri F-5As and they are the same kit.

So which did I go for?

Well after fondling the A-4 for an unhealthy amount of time I put them all back in the stash and returned to the ESCI 1/48 F-16 I started a few weeks ago.  I know the Viper isnt a favorite 'round these parts, but I hope to make it interesting with an unusual camouflage.

At the moment the fuselage is complete.  It will be a gear up/inflight display to save time (some days I just HATE painting landing gear), so I'm about to close up the gear doors and smooth everything out before painting begins later this afternooon.

The previous backstory of a carrier-based, rocket assisted F-16 may or may not hold up, we'll just have to see.   :D

If it doesn't there's always that really nice scheme for the joint NATO Aggressor pool based at Cold Lake !  ;)

Some of you may take my lack of progress reports as a sign that I had abandoned the project to build snowpersons.  Alas, no.  As frequently happens 'round these parts our brief snow event quickly turned into freezing rain, then into just cold miserable rain.

I did get a lot done on the model though!  I decided on a gray F-16 to be original     and becuase I wanted an arctic-type scheme. I did want someting a bit different though so I tried my hand at a pixelated scheme.  I decided to do this with decals, so I cut a sheet of clear decal paper into 3 strips and sprayed the strips Euro I Gray, RAF Ocean Gray, and Black.  Along with a sheet of white decal paper and the base of RAF Medium Gray I arrived at a 5-color pixsl scheme.

I've been cutting up and applying decals for the past 6 hours, and there is still a good bit to go (though I dont think the undersides will get the treatment, instead it will taper into the lower surfaces I think).

Anyhoo...here are a few pics of the progress so far.  Comments and criticism are welcome!

I'm still undecided as to the national markings.  I'm not sure what will go well with the pixel scheme, but so far I'm comsidering Norwegian, RAF, or Canadian, but I'm open to suggestions.

Your pixel camo is just wonderful
No need of national markings I think, private markings may be better, like Microsoft Windows sign

Did anybody here think the Captain wasn't going to suggest that ? :P - Cannot see the pics yet, Nick, but that's because we're blocked from seeing images from ANY file sharing site here at work (B*st*rds   ). I'll have alook tonight when I get home. But knowing your standard, I'm certain it will be great.
