Yowsa Nick, that's one of the most original and innovative camo schemes I've ever seen! I really like how the pixels contrast so nicely with the gray base color.

My vote is for full-color Norwegian markings. I think they will be set off very nicely against that camo.

Four stars!

I would say that that kind of camo is not good to hide the plane but: it is so cool, so difficult, so original and so well executed that I am in love  with it. How did you do it? I am thinking on using this kind of camo in an urban tank.

Really good

It would be interesting to see if this scheme did turn out to be surprisingly effective as camouflage on a full-size aircraft----you never know.  I've seen some pretty unique camo schemes developed for trials that ended up being very effective but too costly to reproduce en masse.

Maybe you could take a few pics of the completed model up against various distant background topography?

Update time!

I've spent most of my spare time today applying more decals.  After I started decaling the lower surfaces I started to feel a bit of burnout from a cumulative total of about 10 hours of applying white, black, and gray decal squares, so I decided to go unconventional and finish the upper surfaces completely.  So now the uppers are wearing their final decals and a top coat of Future.

After considering my options for markings I ended up with something I hadnt even considered before:

My Pixel F-16 is going to be a USN 'Top Gun' Aggressor on temporary deployment to Norway to suport NATO DACT exercises in 1987.

The national markings are a mix of black and gray Stars-n-bars.  The gray and black decals were superimposed with the appropriate parts trimmed away with a fresh blade so that the resulting marking contrasts with the camo underneath.

This isnt my favorite model, as I'm not 100% sure I like tha camo, but I wanted to try something new to expand the skills, so it's shaping up as a rewarding build in that respect.

Hopefully over the next few days I can finish the lower surfaces, then weather it a bit and finish with Testors Dullcote before mounting on a wooden base with a brass rod.

Apologies for the Zac-like hand!

So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Awesome!

I can just see a Soviet general yelling through the phone lines at the satellite imaging technician and complaining his latest batch of photos were too digital and that he needs to increase the resolution!

Awesome work, AD! I'd say all the tedium of applying those 2,000 decals really paid off! Finishing it in Top Gun Aggressor markings is truly inspired!

Dam AD I'm blind! Camo's very unique, and the only oversight is that if it's NFWS bird then there would be the TopGun emblem on the vert. tail only.

Very noticible!

Impressive Digi scheme AD!  Must have taken an age to decal that lot!  IIRC Jordan have gone for this style of camo big time, on their uniforms, tanks & even buildings, but not aircraft yet.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Quite wonderful...a really great job !

Well I think it looks amazing.....what a stand out model....looks like one of those flying Chieftain tanks from Berlin.

Great....buggers the eyeballs and what about some Soviet pilot's eyeballs?

QuoteBTW: How did you get those decals?
Made them very easily.

The decals are made from the decal film that comes with the Testors "Custom Decal System" avialable in the US at Wal Mart for about $7.  The kit comes with two sheets of decal paper, one white and one clear.  the white decals are just squares cut from the white sheet, the black and gray ddcals are from strips of clear decal paper sprayed the appropriate color from rattlecans (Testors MM enamel for the Euro I Gray, Tamiya Lacquer for the RAF Ocean Gray, and Krylon Gloss Black enamel for the black).

I must say I'm surprised at how well these decals go on.  The ones painted with the Tamiya laquer seem hardest to apply, but still go on nicely with a little coaxing.  The white goes on beautifully with no solvent required at all.

The actual markings are a mix of Hobbycraft and TwoBobs A-4 Aggressor sheets, plus some of the ESCI kit decals.

The model is now mounted temporarily on its stand, and I'm about to get back to decaling the lower surfaces.  Should be finished tonight!

So I got that going for me...which is nice....
