Heres my interpritaion of the RAF F-16 as seen for 14 seconds in the film Independence Day. Its the Hasegawa kit, with decals from various sources. Its not perfect, but its as close as I could get with the decals available. I' didn't use a majority of the stencil data as the film mock up only had 3 stencils applied. I've attached a picture of the original to show how it should have been, like I said, its not perfect......but close

Movie madness!!!  Great stuff Mark, always thought it was funny that there's an F-16 in the background, but the pilots are wearing Tornado patches!

There was a real world plan for the RAF to lease F-16's.  When it became obvious that Eurofighter was going to be seriously delayed & that the Tonka F.3 wasn't really suited to current thinking in air defence, the government looked at taking a good few F-16's off the US.  They would have had to be fitted with extra kit for in-flight refuelling & other stuff & it was decided it'd be easier to upgrade the F.3 instead.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Ingenioso!!!!

Very nice Whif Viper you got there! :f16: I never liked ID4, but it's always nice to see a Whif based on a movie mistake.  BTW, is that a full scale mockup of a F-16?  A few things around the canopy and the overall appearance doesn't look right.  Plus I don't know where they would have gotten their hands on a retired Viper.
Man, we should have cloned twenties. Jackson wouldn't have given a poo-poo.

I totally forgot about that one, but vividly remember it now!  Looks spot on (except you didn't replicate their rather poor squadron flash... your's looks better).

I actually liked the movie, although it was waaaaaay to "pro-usa".  Will Smith did a great job of kicking that dead alien while dragging it in his chute, and I enjoyed the Jewish foible/antipathy between the scientist and his common sense father. The alien ships were neat, and I love explosions.

All of that aside, that is a super clean build, and you did a great job with the matching decals...quite nice.

Shasper

Israel had F-18's in ID4, and there was an Arab state that had the F-5 (Couldnt tell who, thou it looked like Jordan & there for not a Whiff)

Looks real enought to me!

Very nice!  Now I have a goofy question: What is the sort of "webbed" looking thing on your nosegear in the 3rd photo of your model?  Almost looks like a cut-out photo.  Or is it just a cobweb?

I'd say you did the Viper in the film quite a few better, Mark! Looks every bit the winner!
