Guys
I'm never one for impulse buying  <_< No really I'm not, but on a recent expedition to Transport Models in Preston with my good friend and occasional Best Man Dork the Kit Slayer, I happened upon a 1:48 Minicraft Beech V35 Bonanza. I took pity upon the wee cowerin' timourous beastie and now I'm wracking what's left of my brain to come-up with a scheme for it.

So here's my crie de couer - Given that I'll NOT be making any structural changes to the kit, it's just a paint-job - what would you guys suggest ??

I have just one idea m'self - A USN squadron hack in very clean Lt Gull Grey/White with some very colourful unit markings - probably from an A-7 or A-6 unit.

OK thassit - over to you lot, thanks in advance.

Confuscious (maybe)

You could paint it like the one we used to have, good ole VZJ...

* olive drab, with tip tanks and the rear side window (maybe 2 or the 3 side windows?) faired over - maybe a gun pod or a rocket pod (or one of each)...RVNAF markings, as a FAC circa 1971

* paint it in a Bulldog colours (Scottish Aviation, not Bristol) as an RAF trainer.

* RNZAF as an AOP?

* Flying Doctor?  Good chance to open it up, have a litter inside...?

* following on from above, how about an ambulance?  Army colours, red cross, opened up with a litter in the back...??

Good luck with it - can't wait to see what you decide on!

There were REAL Israeli ones, but why not go for RAF Transport Command? Is their a VIP Flight??

RAF Coastal Command??

Why not USAF in Europe in the SE Asia scheme....or the same colours a Belgian?

Republican Spain?

Finnish WW2 colours??

Coast Guard??

Go for low-key (read: "dull") low-viz grey with subtle (slightly darker grey) shark's mouth per example below (whether Australian or otherwise)?

That's what I was thinking...USAF Lizard camo. The Yanks had to press everything they had into service for the FAC.

Tip tanks would be an all-to-easy upgrade as well, and really add to the coolness factor.

But most importantly, have fun !

Or do it as a sort of "Blue Canoe" like the Cessna U-3 (aka the 310):

I don't see blue, all I see is tones of grey in that picture.

How about a Vietnam FAC?  You could pop a couple of target marker rockets under the wings.

US Coast Guard?

A COIN (or frontline!) strike aircraft from a small African republic?  Arm it up again!  I've always liked the Socata Rallaye 235G's of the Senegalese Air Force:

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

QuoteQU-22!!

^_^
We had a QU-22 sitting on the maintenance training ramp at Embry-Riddle when I was there in the early 1980s.  I had no idea what an historic airplane it was at the time.  I wonder what ever happened to it?

BTW, the QU-22 was derived from the A-35 with a conventional tail, not the V-35 Bonanza...

YOu could paint it up as N3151C, the white/orange/brown one I got my Commercial Certificate in back in 92!  Such lovely 1970s colors!
So I got that going for me...which is nice....
