Ouch. Makes the 1:144 version look cheap.

Typical pricing range for the A-Model A-Monster kits...the big glass-fibre fuselage and wing parts are time-consuming and expensive to produce.

That said the US price is $175.00, so...

Why on earth does anyone in the UK (or anywhere else) buy from Hannants?  They take the US $ symbol off and add a £ to it and call it good.  You guys in the UK could order almost any kit, decal, or accessory from the US, pay the postage, the VAT, *and* the duty and still come out ahead given the exchange rate.  I'm just amazed that anybody actually pays Hannants prices for stuff.  He used to do that with my LU decals.  Literally just change the $ to a £...

I'm sure the A-Model Candid will be a great kit though!

Runway ? ...

As a rule of thumb companys in the UK convert dollars to pounds one to one. If the dollar number is bigger they seem to use it. After a certain amount of exposure to this stuff I think most people just blank it out. We're used to getting ripped off by everybody. Mmm.. I might get two :)

Well, the Trumpeter 144th scale kits sure aren't worth the money. They should take a lesson from Revell and the An-220.

Does look like that would be a neat kit, tho ! Who's gonna do one CDN ?

Thats the same when you look at the prices for rifles in the UK and US

Is it that bad a kit?  It goes for about 20 quid over here.  I've been thinking about picking one up for a while.

It's about E 23 over here. The kit isn't bad, but Revell has clearly pulled ahead. Their An-124 costs the same or less, and offers more: the box for this kit has about 4x the volume of the Il-76 kit, and it's chock full of parts. The An-124 comes with a detailed interior. OK, the cockpit is one piece, but at least there is a cockpit, and you should see the cargo area - it's glorious. There are no less than 5 build options (in-flight, on the ground with doors at the front and/or back open/closed), plus 5 decal options on a massive sheet.
The Il-76 comes with no interior at all, there are 3 separate kits to cover the Il-76, 78 tanker and A-50 AEW (with minimal differences, they could have covered all 3 variants in one kit), and a rather bare decal sheet (just some stars and numbers for the A-50, no Aeroflot option or detailed stencils).
Exterior detail (panel lines): the An-124 is as good as the Il-76 in this regard. Both are covered in fine surface detail that should look very good once painted.
The fit of the Il-76 has its problems (wing roots, fuselage insert for the main gear), I haven't done too much assembly work on the An-124 yet but it looks promising fit-wise.

What Hobbes said, Nev !

It is basic, but it's a nice build.
