QuoteAs a rule of thumb companys in the UK convert dollars to pounds one to one. If the dollar number is bigger they seem to use it.
Thats the same when you look at the prices for rifles in the UK and US
Its the same for archery equipment as well....most of the stuff sold in the UK is either imported via or made in the states.

And in all fairness to Hannants (and i call them the theives of Lowestoft in jest over their prices at times), importing stuff from the states your self can come with a heafty sting in the tail. AKA Import duty. Im not sure what the freshold is but go over the freshhold and u can get stung hard. Theres no ryme or reason to how they work out what package gets stopped and checked and what one doesnt, it seems totaly random. (and thats how the sytem was discribed to me by a friend and fellow modeler who works for Customs and Excise). And from what ive heard they are also getting wise to stuff marked up as a gift as well...even more so if the dispach address is stateside.
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

Correct Martin

In conversation with Geoff I took Hannants retail price for Anigrand and after deducting duty, VAT etc got to what Anigrand's direct price inc. postage is. When we import direct we can usualy evade all of this, but sometimes they open your little box and  :( Duty by the way is approx 4.7% depending on country of origin.

One thing I have noticed is that Osprey Direct quote the Canadian price in £'s Sterling - it's about 3 times higher then UK price  <_< Do you guys pay tax on books & mags etc ?

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

QuoteWell, the Trumpeter 144th scale kits sure aren't worth the money. They should take a lesson from Revell and the An-220.
Is it that bad a kit?  It goes for about 20 quid over here.  I've been thinking about picking one up for a while.
I know where there is one if you can't one anywhere else Nev
Thanks Steve, but I'm not desperate for one.  Its one of those "if I see it I'd like to pick it up type kits".

I almost bought one at Huddersfield, but then spent 80 quid on various accessories for armour models...

I'd love a Candid, but not at that bloody price.....

I'd really love to get back into archery. Hell 've still got all the stuff....

If it was $145 Canadian dollars, I still couldn't afford it!   <_<

But Pounds?!?!  Man, I'll bet, anyday now, there will be a "real" one going surplus on eBay for not much more than that!   :P

QuoteTypical pricing range for the A-Model A-Monster kits...the big glass-fibre fuselage and wing parts are time-consuming and expensive to produce.

That said the US price is $175.00, so...

A-Monster kits

Cheers, Jon
