Hi Everybody,

Here are a few pics of my most recent project which will go along with the "Cold War in the 1930's" thread. Based on the old Monogram kit, the radial engine was scavenged from a Lindberg Gloster Gladiator. To be honest, I wasn't sure how this would turn out but I am quite pleased with the results. My problem now is decals. I was thinking either Dutch or Finnish (with skis), but have been unable to find decals. If anyone has ideas or suggestions I would be happy to hear them.

Backstory:
After World War I, Anthony Fokker smuggled a dozen or so D.VII airframes out of Germany. Seeing that the aircraft still had potential, Fokker decided to install a 240 h.p. Armstrong-Siddeley Lynx IVB radial. It went back into production in 1920, however only 60 or so were built as by 1921 Fokker had designed the D.IX, the ultimate development of the D.VII airframe. I hope it makes sense so far.

Very nice indeed.
I       LOVE      it

Decals?
Well, it'd look nice in RAF colours, or perhaps Swedish, Belgian, Finnish or a South American country?

Fantastic

Looks bleedin fantastic!     Almost like a single-seat Polikarpov Po-2/U-2.

That's what came to my head when I saw the first pic. Great stuff old Chap! <_<

Chap that's absolutely fantastic and one heck of an introduction to the gang! Very very impressive! I've attached a pic of something similar I did to the 1/72 RoG D.VII, but I used different wings and tail and opted for a sesquiplane layout.

Thanks guys, it really means alot.

Radish,
Thank you for the suggestions as they are all great ideas. I like the idea of a South American D.VII, maybe Bolivian?

Zac,
You may be on to something, I just ordered a set of WWI Russian skis as I was looking at several Finnish and Soviet D.VII profiles.

Brian,
I really like what you did to the D.VII. The Swedish markings look so right on it.

The Rat

Bloody good idea Steve! I can think of a few others it might be applied to...

Seems quite logical to me, and I'd go with the S American thing as well

Looking forward to seeing this one built

I did the opposite, I turned a Fiddlers Green D VII into a whitiff D VIII. Converted the D VII's top wing into a D VIII wing and used the interplane struts. (evergreen rod)

Bugger !!! There goes another idea - I've exactly the same thing planed with a Revell DVII & the spare Eduard DVIII wing - still going to do it though

Nice model Glen

Hi everybody,

Sorry it's been so long for an update. It's ready for painting, although I am still looking at paintschemes. I made a few profiles so tell me which ones you like the best.

P.S.- Glenn, I really like what you did with the D.VII. B)
