As noted on another thread (link at http://www.whatifmodelers.com/forum//index...showtopic=11019  ), I was wondering why building models had started to feel like a second job at times.  Where was the unabashed, simple "fun" I used to have as a kid.  So, with the advice of some good What If friends, I decided to build something pretty basic and without worrying about the number of flaws.  So, after about two hours of fun, here's what I have come up with so far:

Good for you!  Get that styrene flowing through your veins again, fast!  two hours of your work= two days of mine !

Wow another great looking project in the works Mr Howling Mouse! Your recent spate of work is giving the more productive members here a run for their money!

Good! Feel the simple joy in your veins, seeing a result coming... And the amount of perfection is already above my own standards - maybe you will not receive a contest medal for this one, but you'll get clapping hands, mine and others...
To what-if this Spitfire, maybe Japanese roundels or something may be enough, no? coming straight from a(nother) kit...

Thanks, guys!  Here is the paint job so far.  Home-made/mixed Acryl colors on top, RAF "sky" undersides.  I had forgotten how much fun hand-brushing without any regard for tape or camo demarcation could be.

Tophe: I was going to put on early RCAF roundels but now I'm thinking Portugese crosses or Spanish roundels.  I don't know.  I'm sure something will come to mind.

Impressive, JHM!

Your speed-build brushwork camo is better than some of my full-bore serious airbrush and careful masking camo jobs.

Dear, you are raising very high the ratio amount of satisfaction :) /amount of hard-work :( , isn't that wonderful?

It is a shame that you aren't doing her as good ole BM144. Sigh......

HOWEVER, congrats for rejuvenating yourself Mr Baz! Airfix really is Viagra for modellers!

Radish

That's great stuff.

I reckon I can "turn round" an Otaki 1/48th Spit, straight from the box, in about 3 days if I have a very intensive final day of decals, final painting, etc..

"No frills" modelling has great potential as fun.
I build, like everyone else, for pure pleasure.
But some projects just DRAG....like my 1/48th "Big Spine" F-16.....still awaiting attention. The necessity for a quick build keeps the modelling going and I like painting/decalling most anyway. I think.

All my 1/48th biplanes have strictly black interiors because:
they're old and have crap interiors anyway...
I shall eventually put a pilot in each one...
it speeds the entire process up.

Keep up the good work, Baz. :D  :D  :D  :D
