I wonder if anyone has ever taken a rusty Growler and made a rat rod out of it?

Can it get rusty? The frame is aluminium and I think the shell is too, or fibre-glass maybe.

Time for 1:1 scale weathering!

Your pretty much bang on matey ,,the entire car is made from aluminium ..whats not glued is riveted together to keep it light ,,so no rust there  ;D
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .

Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Getting back to the real purpose of this thread, building the Growler, I needed to make a new 'flywheel cover' for the interior bucket as that for the Hemi is MUCH larger than in the RW Prowler of course. So going back to my Tech Drawing classes in the '60s (!) I developed a truncated cone drawing of the right size, printed it out and used it as a template for the styrene version.

It needed a bit of chopping and trimming to get it to fit exactly as it wasn't easy to take the measurements deep in that interior bucket, but now it fits OK and a bit more scrap styrene and a bit of PSR should sort it.

Slooooooooooowly.

I'm doing my resurrected Dragon and the BH8 Warwick GB entry as well as my Tiny SHAR, all at once, so I'm making like a one armed paper hanger.

AND I'm trying to buy a house ay the same time, life's all go here.

The Growler needs attention around the 'gearbox tunnel', except the gearbox is actually mounted on the rear axle of course, and I've got lots of PSR to do in that area and it's  not easy to get at. :(

It's the fiddly details which are the most time consuming and trying to smooth out anything on a car model ,,,even more so .... it's gotta look good .
