The Airfix Humbrol stand at Yeovilton model show on Saturday had the first completed production kit on the stand.

The kit looks awesome, this one had the bomb bays open and the airbrakes open as well.

There was also an unmade example and that looked nice, although the cockpit is a bit sparse.

I was told that they will be shipping next week, and the figure of 10,000 is actually incorrect.  There is a limited production run but the guy said that only the most important people in Airfix know what the number is.

The most important thing is that the kit looks superb.

Father in law took pictures (I was already out of memory and film) will post when he has them developed.

These just went up, it looks good. They are different pictures from the ones seen on IPMS Germany.

Not to sound churlish and ungrateful, but is anyone else getting bored with seeing anti-flash white TSR2's?

Oh, for the explosion of colour when we get our hands on the kit!  :D

:o This just in! Airfix has announced that despite all interest expressed, the TSR-2 isn't a viable aircraft model to be produced due to high cost over runs. It is anticipated that the replacement, the ERTL F-111 will fulfill all the promise the TSR-2 would not have. :o
Alternatively, F4 Phantoms from ESCI are mooted as a replacement should the F-11 turn out to be too expensive and late as well. ;)

:P Kidding!
Sorry...I couldn't help myself!

Mine will all be camo, no white in sight (apart from in the roundels): demonstrator, 1980s camo, 1990s camo, Desert Shield/Storm, Indonesia, and the most recent.

All RNZAF, of course  ;)  ^_^ !

Must see more pics of built kit! One look at the sprues is enough for me.

QuoteAlvis, only you could find that funny.    How would you feel if it was an all new, all singing all dancing kit of the Arrow?
:P

And after the whinging from certain quarters over my Canadian TSR2, I doubt I'll be doing another.

Russian in NM (got the back story for this one down pat) and an all white XR220 (with pylons) and an all white XR221. Those are the first in the build pile.  And in that order.
Oh, THAT kit had been cancelled and replaced with another one of a Voodoo :o

Wooks, I really hope to see a TSR-2 of yours one day with lil F4 kill markings under the canopy...

I actually find there are a few parallels of the real TSR-2 and the kit release..the secrecy, the hand wringing, the missed deadlines...
Clock's ticking, we have been informed by our supplier in Canada here that they are getting all they ordered, but the guy isn't expecting more...lets hope he's wrong.

Oh, and by the way...HobbyCraft Canada ran out of Arrows LONG before Xmas this past year, leaving our shop in the lurch. I hope the whole pile we ordered from every possible source, which never arrived, don't all come at once!

hmmm... for my lot... XR220 (Joe) with pylons & XR221 (Jasper) in white, 237 OCU & No40 Sqdn (initial camou) as well as RAFG. (black unders), NEAF lt stone/dk earth/black), FEAF. (dk green/dk earth/black) schemes (ok i know these dont fit in with the official guidelines for combat aircraft (green/grey only im afraid chaps, but after seeing Lees examples they look soo damn sweet (amongst my fav models of yours, esp with that high demarcation)

btw, have any of you chaps thought of using those lil strong micro magnets embedded within stores and pylons sos to enable alternative weapons fits?

cheers, joe  B)

Actually Joe, you could take a leaf out of Hasegawa and Tamiyas book and embed poly-caps in the pylons so that weapons could be swapped out at will. Just add appropriate spigots to the weapons themselves.

I will wait untill I get the kits to work out what I would like to build. I may even do one as a straight build to assess how buildable the kit is, just like I did with one of my 1/350 Polar Lights Enterprise Refits....

Cheers
