Canadian or Aussie markings...

I'm looking at an ICM Mig 9.13 that I built not too long ago, but never got around to painting - mostly through lack of the right colors. Now I've lost the instructions, and since I'm still in a what-if mood, and have a bunch of decals to spend, I've decided to give some unsuspecting country an infusion of Russian hardware.

The most completely unlikely candidates which I have decals for would be Australia, Canada and Spain - although with the right people at the helm, you never know. The markings I have are for late-80's Hornets, meaning old-style CAF decals for Canada and hi-vis 'Roo-undels for Australia - and a great big honkin' Sourthern Cross which I hope fits on the Mig-29's tail...

What colors should I use? Keep in mind that I'm one of those boring gray men who keeps around a tin of green only to paint seats and bombs with, and some brights for instrument panels...

Hello Sebastian,
Well you could do an interesting three tone gray camo scheme and put the Canadian decals on it and say it's from the Royal Canadian Navy's new aircraft carrier HMCS Molson.

P.S. You might have to bend some small sprue or wire to make the tail hook.

Hmmm...Australian Abo Camo ????Dark brown with white squiggles, and some red and blue thrown in, then the nice big roundels...sounds fun to me !

Since the Southern Crosses wouldn't fit (dry-checked), Canadian it is. I'm painting it as if it was a Hornet - and I'm debating whether to do a false canopy (which would be difficult to mask) or not.

In other news: Will trade pictures of Aussie or Canadian Super Hornet for new Hasegawa 1/72 F/A-18E canopy, since mine got stepped on, and I can't seem to fix it. (Damned thing had already been polished and everything...)
