After seeing the F-117 for the first time, I made a promise that I'd never buy one! I mean, look at it! It doesn't even look like it belongs in the USAF, (or any other airforce on this planet) so, when one came my way................well, I'll start from the begining. Originally I intended designing an aircraft around a B-2 bomber. Well, that's where the fun began. I couldn't get one in the Brisbane area, and you know what it's like, you've got a bee in your bonnett and you want to start now, not tomorrow. Looking around the hobbyshop I was looking for something weird, and seeing I couldn't find a B-2, yea, a 117 would do! I knew what the B-2 design was going to look like, but with the 117, I'd have to re-think it from scratch!
So, I bought the cheapest model, $2:95, at the smallest scale 1/144 to turn it into something else........................................................

You could do the F-117N (as proposed by Lockheed). Or do one that's been modified to look more like later stealth aircraft (curved rather than faceted).

What's the kit like, anyway? I've built the Revell one, but that isn't very accurate. Its underside is flat, for one (the real thing has a faceted bottom), and the bomb bay is off, with one big bay instead of two side-by-side. The weapons were weird as well (missiles that vaguely looked like Mavericks, instead of Paveways).

At first reading, I did not inderstand: what is the relation between a F-117 and a B-2??? Then, well... as usual, Glenn, you were very right ^_^

This is stage #2. Once glued the upper and lower body/wings together, I bent the wings at the root, and then cut the underwing half way along, and bent the wing down from there. The tails, I glued to the wing tips, leading edge flush with the leading edge of the wing.
As to how accurate the model is, I have no idea, as I didn't buy it for that purpose.

Cool! Can you do a photo of the underside?

That looks nasty, organic very insect like. I'd crap my pants if i saw that coming. Now you just need to paint it hot pink.

I invite all and any criticism, except about Eric The Dog, it's not his fault he's stupid

He's right!  It kind of looks like a DEATHGLIDER.

You guys are good, I'll give you that! You can see how a Death Glider would have looked, using a B-2............next time.
I remember Ollie mentioning that you can't use the trailing edge of a wing, as a leading edge, but in Sci-Fi, nothing's impossible! After modifying the wing, I then had to detail it, something like the TV series. Next, work out what cockpit canopy I was going to use. As the Death Gliders have a Square appearance, I used an Airfix 1/72 Apache Longbow canopy. With this, I marked the canopy outline to where the cockpit was to go, and cut out this area. (you will notice, the Glider is now a swept forward wing) also cutting out the undersides to hold the cockpit. The scale of the model is now, 1/48. Once the canopy was in place, then added the back pieces if the body, and after seven days, I put her aside, for another time.

Flip the wings around on a Horten (forward sweep) and it would look way cool

Awesome stuff!

And when it's wee, leading and trailing are all the same!
