Here is the original boxing to the monitor/merrimac kit(s), plus the half finished Confederate ship, which will be the next project.

Pieces and parts, with what looks like nail polish on the bow, and some really hefty blobs of that old tube glue scattered around:

seven layers of putty and a ton of sanding...then primer coats, and the copper hull later :

   

  (oh yeah, I lengthened the ram also with some evergreen strip)

I'm seriously in awe looking at the difference in the last two pics.  The puttied hull just looks like it will never be anything more than the red-headed stepchild of a collection, and then Bam, next pic, rapidly heading towards Museum display quality.

Thanks all !!!  The two of them are going to look good together on a shelf, and it was really rewarding to save them from the garbage...sure wish someone made a 72nd scale version of these ships...
