Captain Canada

Happy rainy Saturday !

Well, after barely managing to stay awake at the Wallace and Gromet movie, I thought I'd start packing up the basement, and taking a few pics for posterity, as these babies may or may not survive........

Anyway,

When the Admiralty switched from a passive ASW policy to a multi-role strike capabilty, first order of buisness was a capablr strike a/c. Bell-Boeing Canada engineers proposed a naval variant of surplus USArmy Apaches, and the rest is history !

With powerfull search radar, and offensive and defensive capabilties, the CH-149A was a potent open water bird.........

My mods incl. Belcher Bits Sea King sponsons, the tail rotor is a 72nd scale Herc prop, the nose is from a Matchbox Twin Otter. Also fabbed up some seeker head covers for the 'winders, and I belive it was our beloved Higgy Baby that sent me the Sea Eagles.

I had left the cockpit open, as I was going to do a series of photos....and then add the pilots, close her up, unflod the rotors and retract the gear to do some in-flight jobs.........but times went by, things got lost, and here we are !

The CH-149 was replaced in service by Kamovs in 2010

Wow, thats cool! Ever play those old "strike" video games?(Soviet Strike, Nuclear Strike, etc)

In the game, they had a navalized apache launched from the SeaShadow. Yours looks cooler and more plausable.(the video game's apaches could carry 6 passengers somehow... )

Thanks Goober !

And no, I've not played or heard of those games....sounds pretty interesting !

I guess you could carry the six troops in air-dropable pods, eh ?

ooo I like it.  Nice weathering and everything :)

Now, I didn't play Soviet Strike or anything, but my brother did.  That was a pretty bad donkey Super Apache they got there.
Man, we should have cloned twenties. Jackson wouldn't have given a poo-poo.

Oh, brilliant Toad!

Wasn't it a CoR entry?

And the 'Strike' games were class.  I played Desert and Jungle, that one had a Comanche...

Love your lo-viz camo and markings, Cap'n!
Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

Great bit of kitbashing, love the folded rotors, and especially love the lo-vis markings - barely visible against the base camo, as you often see with USN stuff.

Fantastic!

Thanks boys !

I've been thinking about removing the rotors, elarging the wings, and then turning down the exhausts to make a VTOL type thing out of her. Just kinda 'jumps' out at you with that pointy nose, doesn't it ?
