"Stealth" B-2 Advanced Technology Bomber

I was exploring today and i found an old Hobbyshop that I've never been to. Not much in the way of static airplane models(mostly an R/C place), but i found something I HAD to get.

This might be one of the only Kits i do out of the box, cuz its pretty damn whatif already. The plastic is in a nifty shade of metallic-blackgray, Im going to look for paint to match that later on.

Even at 1/72he thing is freakin huge! Look at the MiG-29 of the same scale i put on top.

For a second there, I thought you were going to do a futuristic version of a Mistletoe (Mistel?) or whatever they called the German piggy-back combo.

Saaaaaaay....

Ive been thinking about doing a modern "mistel..." hows about a B-58 topped with a F-102/106?

Weird... (and beautiful all at once)
Could you explain us the relation with the B-2? Was it a Revell try in the 1980s to show what the B-2 could be, before it was revealed and publicly shown? Together with the Stealth F-19?
Nice dreams, as interesting as the Real ones, according to me... Thanks to remind us these pleasant mistakes of journalists that pretended to know the secret and thrilled the modelers (the what-ifers at least...).  ;)  ^_^

Its guesswork from 1987, just like the F-19. They actually came pretty close with this one, or at least had accurate info. Looks pretty goofy, but its consistent with known flying wings up till then.

Im sure if someone told them that the B-2 was going to be all zigzags and right angles, theyd think it was rediculous. :P

I had that kit.  I got it in high school right around the time I lost interest in models.  It sat under the bed for many a year before I moved away from home.  I saw where someone else on another forum had bought one, and asked my parents about its whereabouts.  Mom didn't know, but suspected it disappeared in a yardsale many moons ago.  Oh, well...

On the other hand, I did just get the Monogram 1/72 F-19.  It's a SNAP kit, but I'm sure I'll be able to do something with it.

Yes, she's pretty freaking cool OOB, but I'd suggest a giant fin, or a pair of fins, so she could handle like America's answer to the almighty Vulcan......

Congrats on the cool aquisition, btw !

At very first glance I thought why has he painted that recce drone red ? Reminds me of the SR-71 drones

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Hmmm, seen those wings somewhere else before..........................

I think this is the kit Evan has a story to tell about, from his days working on the real B-2

Tophe,

It's a "best guess" kit.  Revell pushed through a bunch of kits in the late 80's which were based on very preliminary information.  Among these were their Mig-31 Foxhound and Hind kits.  Both of those were very basic kits that more reflected "provisional" information about their subjects than what the actual end products looked like.  But, they were first on the market with them and their sales reflected that.  At least it did with their other kits.  The B-2 ATB missed the mark because it came out only a short amount of time before the real B-2 bomber was revealed and because it was such a big kit that its production costs were too high.  As such, the Revell kit was quickly pulled from the company's lineup.

I also have this one in my stash and my intent is build this one, the Model Technologies version, and the Testors "true" B-2 and put them all on the same flight line as sort of a heavy iron "what if?" display.

I had the Model Technoligies Stealth Bomber kit for a while in my stash.  Picked it up about fifteen years ago and thought it was quite impressive but the big drawback was that it was a vacu-form kit and I was intimidated by that fact.  I finally unloaded it in a swap this year at my friends hobby shop in Renton.  As for the other two kits, I have three of the Revell stealth bomber kits and a pair of the Testors B-2 stashed away.

Thanks for remindinding us. ^_^
Say, was the MiG Ferret in the same line, somehow? from secret information about what? (or just what-if smile, for ones like us :P )

The ferret was made for people like us. Never was based on any soviet stealth plane, but to capitalize on the success of the F-19 stealth(which apparently broke records for sales).
