The Wooksta!

Today was more of the brushy stuff.  Wheels, interiors, exhausts, etc.  But I did break to do something else.

This one has been sitting forlorn with only a coat of overall dark sea grey, needing only the NATO Green.  So, time for some remedial action.  Out with the Xtracrylics...  Except that they don't do NATO Green.

For a moment, I almost used the Humbrol green I've been using - 116, which is close enough to NATO Green not to matter and more to the point is matt, so dries quickly and has a decent coverage.  But then I looked at the Xtracrylics again.  RAF WW2 Dark green was close enough and, as the model is going to be an RAAF machine, I could explain away the change in shades, right?

Yeah, spot on.  MFM!  So after a quick draw with a quilting pencil over the model for the camo scheme, out came the brushes and on with paint.  Foockin' 'ell!  This stuff dries fast!  Faster than the Humbrol stuff and compared to Xtracolour this is warp speed!  A minute after it was applied - touch dry.  I'm not kidding.  I did both coats in under two hours (it looked good enough for just the one, but one or two areas looked a little patchy so I gave the wole lot another coat).

After that, I gave the interior and u/c a coat of grey and added the exhaust silver.

Nice in-progress shots Lee - I told you that Xtracrylic was class stuff didn't I

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Pretty sure it is.

Wooksta, what have you done to make the model a recon version if I may ask?
