Just got the Anigrand kit in 1/72 of the Hughes XF-11.  I am planning to do this in a What-if operational scheme, as an R-11B, say about 1950.  Some initial thoughts are:

NMF with colorful squadron markings
Gloss black, as per Korean war F-82s and B-26s
PR or mist blue, as in WWII F-5s (P-38)
Light Grey, with colorful markings.

Any other suggestions?

At first glance, the kit looks great - should be a very good looking model, next to some other What ifs:  F-108, F-109, F-103, F8U-3, etc.  BTW, Anigrand is a very good friend of the What-iffers!!

Hopefull an A-38B Grizzly is next!!

Now tell us something we didnt know LOL  :P

the XF-11 is one id like to add to my small anigrand collection..but funds do not permit at the moment. May be USAF 1948 in RAF PRU blue operating out of Germany into the hart of eastern europe. (keeping an eye on uncle joe)
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

Size (of the stash) matters.

Yes, very interesting... (I would prefer a 1/144 anyway, for such a big machine)
Concerning colours, the real prototype having been plain silver or grey (as featured in the Film "Aviator"), a camo would make a completely different aspect. As far as I am concerned, I would prefer a 2-tone of sky-blue or light-grey, but you may imagine European colours (green/grey or brown) and desert ones as well (sand/brown)... :) Or else, because this will be your own baby, let you dream and invent and choose ^_^

I'm doing mine as a Korean War bird in something like the air-superiority blue the early F15's were in.

Also can't wait for the Grizzly

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

As this is the 'Picture forum' and waiting for your original model, I present the basic box, sad as real :(  but twin-boom, yes  :)
