I just started thinking about the Mig-1.44 project. after budjet problems RSK MIG cancelled the program and started on a new project to rebuild the Mig-29 into a new generation fighter jet. For this they looked at other projects such as Eurofighter, gripen, rafale and the IAI Lavi.

as a result, the design team of MIG joined forces with EADS, Northrop-grumman and Elbit to produce and redesign the Fulcrum. The wings were changed and rebuild with new composites and RAM on the edges, they added canards, a new redesigned window, a new Radar by northrop-grumman (APG-73) and 2 general electric F404 engines (Snecma ATAR and EJ200 also possible).

The prototype first flew in 2004 and went into production in 2005. after talks with various countries, the Mig-32 was sold to Slovakia, Bulgaria, India, Finland, Brasil, Mexico, New Zeeland and China (under license, known as J-19).

other countries desided to rebuild there Mig-29 airframes into the 32 standard in russia. Polen, Ukraine, Syria, Iran and Yemen. talk are currently under way to sell them to Norway, Belgium, St. Stephens, Syldavia, Germany, Czech republic and Argentina.

there is also a Naval version under developement, the Mig-32K (to be designated Mig-34) and is currently negotiating with the Russian and Indian navy for possible sales.

im currently rebuilding an old Mig-29 into the prototype, will post it here some other time.

Holy crap!

Geeze I wish I could do a drawing, or take an existing drawing, and build something like that. Beauty dude!!!
Getting back into modeling

QuoteSnecma ATAR and EJ200 also possible
I think the new SNECMA M88 is better than the 1960's ATAR ;)

For your plane, I like it!!
Such an aircraft could be a good adversary for J-10, F-16 and Mirage 2000...

But I think a bigger tail could be better, specially for the naval version ;)

The aircraft was intialy designed to compete with the F-16E/F, rafale, eurofighter,....for export orders, its a multirole aircraft that can carry 1000lbs more munition then the Mig-29.

i know but this is a model of the prototype, the productionmodel has a larger tail and a different canopy, as seen on the drawing above. i think im gonna start on a Naval production aircraft as soon as possible, i got another Mig-29 in my sparesbox, so he will make a perfect "Flamer".

I have just completed the navalised version with a larger tail and a verry original canopy similar to the Su-34 strike flanker  :ar: , its also fitted with an arrestorhook for carrier landings.

In the near future im planing to buy additional Mig-29 kits for conversion and paint them in the colors of sertain export customers. i made alot of own created and converted aircraft and in 1/144, this has got to be my best idea and work  B)

The Mig-32K "Sea Flamer" (Mig-34 for export, serialed Blue 05) is seen here after coming out of the paintshop of my factory, since it is dark here now, the picture is verry poor but another and better picture will be posted here in the morning

Sweet !

I really like the -34. Does look alot like a mini-Flanker.

Now, when you gonna build a 144th scale Russian a/c carrier ?

:P

I've got a link to a company that produces 1:144 scale models of Russian warships, including carriers. I'll post the link when I get home. Beware of sticker shock, though.

Spey_Phantom

I promised i post better pictures in the morning, and here they are. note the new canopy on the aircraft (made from a 1/72 F-16 canopy) and the larger tail. it resembles alot to the rafale (or should i say Rafalski  :ar: )

Left, the prototype. Right the naval production version.

her you can clearly see the improvements compared to the prototype.

note the changes to the tail.

see here its famous new nose section.

Not bad hey.  :ar:

Sweet! Is the new tail an existing part, or did you scratchbuild it?

the tail is actualy a horizontal taileron of an 1/72 F-16, i just did a little cutwork to the tip to "fulcrumize" it a bit.  B)

Very inventive. I especially like the changes between prototype and production, makes it seem that much more real.

In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

Eddie M.

I really enjoyed those two Ruskie birds. It got me thinking about doing some Russian hybrids(You must think in Russian! ;) Bravo Zulu on your creations! B)

Look behind you!

BlackOps

I like them both but the navy version really shines! I guess I'm just a tail man  :D

Very cool model!

As an aside, I read recently that the Russians never gave formal, "official" names to either the MiG-29 or the Su-27.  Subsequently, in Russian publications on the aircraft, they are referred to by their NATO code names.  So "Fulcrum" and "Flanker" have become the default names.
