I know, I know....I've lost my marbles this time........couldn't help myself though. Woke-up this morning and these two civilian F.6's were in my head, just had to illustrate them! Please forgive me :dum:
Picadilly Princess.

My own personal F.6!

Yeah I know, an ego trip :P

I may have redeemed myself though with this RNZAF F.6. I may well do a model of this one. Imagine it with Crusader Zuni rocket pods in place of the air to air missiles, rocket pods mounted to the overhead drop tank pylons and LGB's mounted on special pylons on the belly like on an F-15E? Sounds pretty good to me, may just give it a go.

Don't be worried about personalizing with the Gekko One decal: that is COOL!  What a dynamic eye-popper that would be among common grey and camo'd planes on a shelf.

Ah, you don't happen to have those graphics available in 1:72, do you?????

Could you imagin the ATC when you bring that thing in?
" Wellington centre, Gekko-1 Experimential is 50km out at 1500m, inbound to Auckland."
" Gekko-1, Wellington centre, please say type"
"Wellington centre, Gekko-1 is a Bravo Alpha Charles Lightning Foxtrot. 6, over"
"Gekko-1, Wellington centre You're a WHAT?"

I dig it all, kinda reminds me of that Civvie -104 duo team. IMHO You need to make decals for this stuff! ;)

HEY HEY HEY!!!!

It looks like a couple of those Ultimate Air Racing Formula Unlimiteds! Some time ago I had suggested a group build of racing jets, no holds barred, but flat out speed wasn't the only thing to consider. The race was to be held in the Grand Canyon so ya gotta turn pretty darn good too!
Getting back into modeling

yeaaaaaah!!!
RNZAF  Lightnings !!!!!!

I presume they could be replaced near 2004 by one or two squadrons of Rafale, maybe after a short interim maid by Mirage F1 or Skyhawks!!!!

Thought I might be asked to leave after posting the civilian ones.

Do you think people would actually want to model that one?

I may well do it myself in 48th scale, there are some modellers here in South Australia that would want me stuffed and mounted for doing such a thing :ar:

If I end-up creating a set of decals in 48th it would be no drama to shrink it down to 72nd, so I'll let you know........

Good one Vesper! :D

You mean you'd be interested in decals for the civilian ones too?

This and the other two posts are gorgeous work.  I'd certainly go for a decal sheet with all, including the civilian, options, though my preferred scale is 1/72.

 So nice...
My favorite one is the Orange Gekko One...
Just two extra questions:
- why a lizard or salamander on the fin? personal totem?
- for what role do you imagine a civilian Lightning? the story around it would double the value of your creation... :) what is in this big belly? extra tanks? why supersonic without passengers? etc...
[the word "realistic" hurts my heart...]
