A friend gave me this kit a while ago, and then another loaned me the DVD of the entire first season...soooooo, while watching, thought it would be a good time to build "Ivonova's Revenge", a MK II starfury :

And here I thought I'd left Bablyon 5 a long time ago.

(Check out my website to know the insanity I had for years with tiny metal spaceships and the game (Babylon 5 Wars) they were associated with. :dum: )

I wanna see what this thing looks like when it's done.

I did one of those babies a year or two back.  I even got the transparent cockpit and engine pieces to do a lit one.  I had some problem with the canopy, which is still waiting to be reattached.  I think I have at least two sets of the corrected guns from Starship Modeler, too.

It's actually a fun kit, despite all the work it is to get the fitting and gaps and panel lines fixed up.  I've been wanting to do another one. . . someday.

Can't wait to see 'er all done!

Looking good.  Wait til you get to see what fun you have with puttying and sanding the leading wing edges with their little slots (or was it the trailing edges?).

Been awhile.  Great little kit overall, though.

Have you seen the various online group-builds out there?

Picked up the "Bad Penney" nose-art from John at the Starship Modeler table at Wonderfest this year to go on my SE Starfury. Haven't gotten around to starting it...yet...

For those who haven't seen it, SSM offers a HUGE array of alternative decals for the SF:

(Click on the Bad Penney nose art to go there...)

For other ideas, they also offer sheets of cheesecake nose art:

Just scroll past the Star Wars decals. Or don't, if you have an X-wing model...

Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part...

More into Flight Sim reskinning these days, but still what-iffing... Leading Edge 3D

One of my  favourite sites !!!  Yeah, I have seen some pretty amazing builds of this kit over the years, mine is going  to be whiffed fairly heavily to go from a MK1 (kit version) to the MKII (my version) . Once I get the basic hull built, with the wings attached, I am going to scratchbuild the deck gantries so I can have it properly mounted !!!  This is going to take a while...

I only had a pic or two of mine when I had finished it.  I didn't have a digicam back then so a friend took these at my former office.  I sent it to a friend of mine in the States as a gift.  Can't wait to see yours finished.  Maybe it will motivate me to build another (I just remember this one being exhausting for some reason).

*wolf whistle*   That is one hell of a sweet build !!!!!  You did a great job with all of the puttied areas too...which there are tooooooo many of ! (hence, the exhaustion??)

Nice start!  And I might add you guys are really evil! I don't want to hear any more about how much putty this kit takes...I picked up a star fury and am looking forward to starting it soon but I HATE PUTTY WORK!

Nice build on yours too John...I see I still have a ways to go on my getting up to speed but you guys sure give me something to strive for :)

It's just that the puttying and sanding takes place in some odd, difficult-to-reach places.  I often use a piece of 400-grit wet-dry sandpaper tightly wrapped around an old credit card to get into such spots.

Hehe...next time my wife wants to go shopping, I will have an excuse as to why she can't use the card !!!!!

There is just something about the Starfury... Maybe it's the eight main engines?

Can't wait to see this
