Thanks for all the comments, guys!

You got all the influences spot on - "Castle in the Sky", "Crimson Skies", and a touch of "Aeronef", and one other - "Last Exile", a really imaginative anime series (albeit with some juvenile dialogue) set in a quite cleverly worked out world.

WRT significant forces, I have sketches for US (Similar to British, but with cage masts now that I can render them), French, German, Imperial Russian (Better Tzar + train crash = no revolution), and Chinese Imperial fleets and their corresponding air wings. The US fighter is based on a GeeBee Z

WRT The Gadfly - it started off as a Pterodactyl turret fighter, http://www.whl.co.uk/history_pterodactyl_4.cfm but I couldn't convince myself that there were enough control surfaces for anything other than sedate flying (with manual control, anyway), so I stuck the little elevator on the back.

Technical things:  Note that the Handwavium criterion has been envoked, and Fictionite is to be utilised.  The first mass models were more realistic, with much larger envelopes.   Some of the other navies have designs that would be more practical in reality, but my main aim was to make it immediately identifiable as a "British" design.  WRT the landing legs - if you look really closely (with the light off) at the night picture, you should be able to see the legs unfolded from the keel of the main hull - the lower lift prop spinners don't touch the ground.

What do I have to do to convince you to make me a copy of my USS Manhattan?  :D

So very lovely! They'd be practical if they incorporated some Cavorite, reducing the size of the lift bags and engines.  ^_^

In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

QuoteAlso, why not make the airship's shape incorporate the landing strips as opposed to having them hang off its sides?  Less drag and less structural weight hanging off of it all.
Or a twin boomer with the landing deck on the centre supporting structure?

But even as it is, that is one cool site!
